Hey guys, New to irate.

So yesterday I picked up a sterling for my Jeep, but they gave me a Dana 70 dually for FREE with 4:63 gears/ hubs/ brakes/ axles, But I’m stumped on what to do because one of the spindles is jacked up on the 70.
Now I’m trying to see if I can find a spindle to weld in or can I make it a front?

Also my original plan with the 70 was to make a small trailer just big enough for my Jeep to fit on.

What are your thoughts on what I should do?

There's some threads on here or PBB about narrowing FF diffs by just splicing axle tube. You could do the same to change your spindle. Maybe you want to change the width at the same time.

That’s what I had in mind, but having a hard time finding a spindle without a whole housing. Also i would assume the dually and singles have different spindles? That’s mostly what I can find already cut off.

Whole housing is fine... Like another with one spindle wrecked is probably free or close to it. Maybe you want to consider spindles and tube alone and ditch the pumpkin.

Dually vs single depends. Dodge likes to use a bigger bearing and seal surface on a dually, but say a Ford e350 dually can be the same spindle as a dodge single.

Make it a front.

Good fucking luck finding another axle with a wrecked spindle on a reasonable timetable. You'll come across a free axle sooner.

There are others too.

But free don’t means you have to use it.
You can buy a complete axle for less than that.

Those repair spindles are only really a sensible option on some built to the moon trussed housing you've got a ton of labor sunk into that you don't wanna waste over one trashed spindle.

thats where I’m heading with it. No biggie if I can’t use it.

At this point I’m probably just going to scrap it and move on. Luckily it was free and no loss to me.
