Glass match the gaskets, then hylomar .
Never had a problem with mine leaking, now the failgear seals weeping, yes.

1/8" sheet vs 4k# rig?
Yea ok by the time you get it stout enough, who weights more?

It would take a butt ton of bracing to get 1/8" to wiegh as much as 1/2"

With the right bracing, 1/8" skid will be stronger and lighter than a 3/8" except for small dents in between the bracing if you're worried about that.

Why would the cases support the weight of the truck?

That's one of the advantages of that design, it's independent from your belly skid.
the AP case mounts to the back of the case like FRORF... technically, the case still sits a tad lower than the frame. So it's possible that the weight of the truck could indeed sit on the case. Unlikely, but possible.

Ah gotcha, I've always just bought the mount, chopped the floor up, and welded arms onto it to lift the case(s) above the frame rails.
