Cracked TH350?

I picked up a Th350 from a buddy simply for the output shaft (freebe) it had been kicking around forever and he told me it was cracked because he was running without a t'case cross member. I'll be damned if I see any cracks. Would love to use as is because that means I won't be pulling two transmissions apart.

I did see what I feel to be casting flash on the left side. A quick hit with a flap disc makes it go away. Pulled the pan, see nothing, checked the tail and see nothing. Somewhere else I should be looking?

Dye penetrant not sure where to get but i bet amazon has some

I think it would crack at the tailhousing where it bolts to the t-case adapter.

Bell and tail housing are the only places I've seen them fail.

Ive seen the bust the bell, mid line and the gap between the body and tail flange.

Those look like normal marks. I wouldnt say they are cracks.

I cracked 2 right by front pump behind the bell in my car many years ago.

Your friend is an idiot. That’s casting flash. Wouldn’t be the first time someone called them cracks.
