So I guess that fender goes up and down with the tire? Would that truck be all stock? Is using that axle completly up to the driver or it’s mandated by weight? Does using it make it ride nicer? Can the driver hear it when it’s in use?

When you’re loaded, obviously it’s slower, but does it ride nicer. If your empty, do you skip gears when excellerating?

Sorry for all the questions. One more I probably already asked you. How big is your area or route?
The fender is mounted on the frame I think. No that truck is not stock. But they can be ordered any way you want them. Unlike normal cars trucks can be ordered any way you want. The driver drops that axle when they are loaded. Using it makes it legal to haul up to 85,500 in KS instead of 80,000. Each state is different. It probably does not ride nicer with it down but I dont know. I doubt he hears over that 6nz CAT with straight pipes.

They ride better loaded than empty. I might skip a few gears by starting in 3rd or 4th when empty and not splitting any gears except the 15-16 and 17-18.

My fuel area is all within 200 miles but when I haul feed it is up to 8-900 miles.

No problem asking.
Purple frame rails? Guess you make a lot of stops at rest stops next to the bushes.:flipoff2:
Viper Blue. :flipoff2:

I try not to stop. Stopping dont pay. And I prefer to sleep on the side of the road. I dont like truckstops they are too loud, dirty and idiots like to take hoods and fenders off.

Went to a car show today and saw most likely the most valuable car ever posted in this thread. Real Ford GT40. It sounded awesome!

There’s a guy in Panama City that has one. He parked next to my Delorean at a car show. The guy was really old and took five minutes to back it in to a a super wide space. Then he hit the curb. He was a nice guy, but was kind of like talking to Joe Biden. He told me he has another one also.

Awesome. I have seen fake ones before but never a real one let alone one of the ones that was in the 123 finish at Le Mans.

They ( Shelby America ) brought the stable to Sears Point one year when Carol was alive , they had all the Daytona's present along with a few team cars.
It was an awesome sight.
There's at least 1 local guy holding a team car, who's often present.
Track days can be rather impressive...

The last fenders mounted to the cabs and front frame horns and radiator area for Petes was the model 351. Either 1966 or 1968 I think. Narrow nose - small windows - butterfly hood. Last small window but big tilt hood was 1972. IIRC 1968 was the first year for that cofiguration. Pretty sure that's a plastic custom hood on that truck. OEMs don't wrap the tires like that.
I'd like to mash the pedal on that, @100+ . Just floating on those bags.

379 and 389s have all Aluminum riveted section hoods. Factory ones have Aluminum front fenders riveted to the hood. Some aftermarket fenders are fiberglass. Like cheaper oem looking or “gangster” style ones.

Here is a chunk of old iron. My truck went in for a head gasket seeping oil. It turns out the Kentucky rebuild it had before we got it still had the original camshaft which is flaking, front structure gaskets and crank seal. Now getting it done right.

So is a “Kentucky rebuild” a thing or is that just where you happened to get it rebuilt?
