Was checking out the local auctions and this one came up. Without meeting this dude I know we would get along if he was still alive lol.

There is a couple tracked lawn mowers a 6 wheeled lawn mower. Pretty sweet stuff lol.

Maybe not as cool as those above but I kinda like this old Dixon mower that I rigged up for a farm mower. Deshrouded the deck and added some weights to the back axle. It used to have a grass catcher hopper on the back so it was a little light in the rear. Works great for mowing the back side of gated pipe and around equipment, sheds, and other tight places a large brushhog won't fit...

with bids under $100 why did you not buy these?

100% I would make that tracked deal a m2 halftrack lookalike for kids to play with.
Just some plywood and OD green paint away from ultimate army man games.

Bow down to the Heckendorn mower. Ever notice that the best mowers are made in Kansas. Kind of like the best bale beds, made in Kansas. Fuck you all.

fuck that's sweet.

we had an old simplicty growing up that pivoted in the middle so the deck always followed the front wheels. Cut great. Don't dare take a hill at an angle though, or it will try to break your femur when it jams the steering wheel into your leg.

I need that to mow my GFs steep ass yard. I won't do it on my hustler. She can pay.

When I was in highschool my stepdad had a mower shop in Shell Knob. In the winter when it was slow he had a bunch of old lawn mowers out back he would get running to sell in the spring. One of them in the back was one of these. He said it was made in Missouri. It was pretty much a push mower with a seat

Yes, tons of garden/lawn tractor history in KS. I think Dixon was started in coffeville, which was pretty much what started the residential zero turn mower.

Yup, Galesburg, KS is where Bush Hog was, just went and read more history on it. A guy was in that town making small engine powered cool shit since the late 1800's, sold to Bush Hog in 1962 and started making these tractor units. PTO drives, 3 points front and rear, all kinds of crazy attachments for both ends. Neat stuff.

We called those stump jumpers in Western KS. Also had a Marty J mower that was built out of 1/4" plate that held up to anything you threw at it also still being built in Western KS.

I was looking at one of those Marty J mowers on craigslist for a bit before I found the Dixon above at the local gettin place. Then a few months later the same place had a Grasshopper 721 diesel mower too, so I scooped it up as well. Haven't had time to work on it yet.

Got good freinds that work at the grasshopper manufacture out in KS. They have rebuilt a few that I found them. Those are badass mowers especially the diesel ones.
