I am finally going back to work in a couple of weeks and they are going to have a 100 percent all mask policy all day long. I know that is impossible due to phone conversations, eating, etc but it is a written company policy with termination. There are plenty of other threads to argue about wearing them and ways to fight it but lets keep this about what to wear. Some people have already been caught without masks and within minutes it caused a shitstorm way up near the top of the company. They have been warned that they have no more chances.
I don't care if I have to spend some money to be comfortable and I want something that I will not have to constantly adjust. I am in a shop setting without airconditioning so it may be getting up into the 90's. 10 hour days.

Have any of you guys found masks that are comfortable all day long?

Nope. My wife made me mine. I've got a full beard and its uncomfortable as shit. I'm on the verge of just using my grinding or welding shield.

I wear these when I have to, due to the governors mandate of wearing one in public places. I haven't worn it all day long, but it's easy to breathe through for me and doesn't fog up my glasses like most of the masks out there. Bonus is they're washable, and make great sweat bands if this covid shit ever ends. In fact, I already had a few for just that purpose before covid started.

I use the regular flat medical masks since my work provides them. I bought one of those sock types that covers your neck and only used it for a couple minutes before going back to the medical mask. It made my face sweat and would fall down every time I looked to my left or right. I cannot imagine wearing it in any type of hot environment.

The medical masks are easier to pull up, down, and adjust without touching my face.

I have another mask coming from amazon that is similar to the medical one and is washable.

If they'll allow it I'm the most comfortable with a bandana tired around my nose, it's the coolest and least noticable and doesn't pull my beard all day

First Lite Aerowool neck gaiter. I spent some money on one when my work said the same thing and my government went full retard. I like it more than the cheep cooling fiber one I got on Amazon first

If I have to wear anything, I put a new lens for my face shield in my grinder, I also have Schemagh that must be made for midgets!

I have to wear one for my job and I’ve been happy with the mission brand neck gaiter pulled up as a mask. The medical style masks are provided but I found them uncomfortable for all day use. It is July so hot and humid and I haven’t had any issues, much cooler than the true masks for sure.

im tempted to cut one of these in half length-wise

i hate that is sits on my neck all day, just extra heat and irritation

but i like how thin it is

Any and all masks will irritate the shit out of you. Especially in a hot shop setting. I see people are starting to use face shields though. That should be good enough. It covers the face

I use the fishing buffs.
With all the mask stuff out there now, these grew in popularity, with some being nothing but a cotton neck sock.
Buy one from a fishing store, they will have the quality ones.
I normally wear them fishing in Baja in 120 degree heat, so they are not bad to wear at all.

Fishing Buffs, I have some cheap ones. I wear them all day except for eating and drinking.

I bought some of those just a couple days ago. They haven't shown up yet. I figured I can use them for some of the dirty/dusty jobs I do on the farm. They had a deal going where you buy one at full price ($20) you get 4 free ones that you can pick the design of and a 5th free one that is a random one they throw in your order. So 6 total for like $26 after shipping and tax. Can't lose your ass too bad on that deal...

I wear something similar at work. I doubt it actually does anything, but it checks the mask box.

I cut mine from SA in half, its definitely more comfortable as its not all bunched up, but it does like to roll up on itself, so sometimes it is not a quick easy up over the nose. Thought about putting a hem in it stop the curling.

Ist the clear face shield basically useless?

I'd tell them to fuck off wearing a mask in a 90* shop, there can be issues caused by wearing masks. Once these dumbass companies start getting sued from people passing out while working, they'll adjust their policies

Many employers won't allow face shields.....has to be a 3 layer mask of sorts. No bandanas either.
That said, the cloth ones are hot AF and make my glasses fog up. The little blue and white disposables aren't as hot and have a little metal tab to bend around your nose to help with the fogging. That's what I'll be using when we get the inevitable callback.

What is the purpose of them other than covid? Why do you wear them in the hot desert?

With all kinds of people on the labor market and Right to Work, I'd just have security escort you off the property and take the next guy in line.

Also, plenty of people have to wear masks in hot work environments. The only leg you've got to stand on is OSHA.

But again they'll just put the trouble-makers down the road with double-digit unemployment going on. Plenty of eager candidates to do semi-skilled or certified labor.

Sunburn protection, especially when on the water.

Huh that totally makes sense. I've very rarely been burned by the water up here but then that was back when the method to deal with sunburn was to blister up a couple of times until you're immune. Guess we're all too old for that nonsense these days.

no, the clear face mask is highly effective. because it is a solid surface and a large covering, it essentially eliminates any ability of large droplet transmission to go forward, like the cloth stuff does. added bonus, it is easier to clean and know when it needs cleaning.

this is not an airborne transmission issue, it is heavy and doesn't turn corners up and around effectively, based on everything we know from decades of these things. also the shield allows for easy air travel and very low pressure, so respirations are not strong enough to "suck" large droplets from around the face shield.

at worst, they are as effective as a quality and properly worn face mask, at best they are significantly better.

:lmao: such weird times we live in today

 I wouldn't show up and make a stink, just say no thanks when they say a mask is required.

Also, plenty of people have to wear masks in hot work environments.

Masks? Or respirators? Because that's 2 different ball games. I'd love to see an example of a work environment that requires "3 layers of cotton".
Have you ever had to wear any type of breathing filtration device before? I've done burned building cleanup. Tyvek suit and full respirator required, 12 hours a day. It's not very fun, even just operating equipment. Not something I plan on doing again.

Like I said, I wouldn't be making a stink, just won't be working there. I'm not going to put myself at risk for issues with low blood o2 levels or lung infection because of a made up rule.

Interesting. I have to laugh when I see people wearing them, but whatever.
