In which direction is the general public trending, as believers or skeptics?

Edit: By "climate change" I mean the official doctrine that human CO2 is causing dangerous changes that only greater government control can prevent.

Way too many levels for such a simple question.

This covers the spectrum from do you think the climate naturally changes all the way to do you believe giving 75% of your money to the govt will make it better.

I'd say the number of people on the extreme side of it have always been vastly over estimated.

I simply think the strangle hold on people voicing their opinions has been forcibly removed.

I think covid did wonders for upping people's skepticism regarding the govt.

I think there is no debate on whether the climate is changing.
always has, and always will

the only real question is to what extent have we influenced that change
^^ That.
Did dinosaurs fart less than cows? Was the planet better off before or after the giant meteor wiped them out?
Is fracking going to cause Yellowstone to erupt sending us into worldwide ice age?

Of course climate change is real.

Is a climate changing? Yes. It’s always changing.
Should we be responsible stewards of our own environment?
Yes that just makes sense if you wanna continue living on this planet.

Should we blindly throw billions of dollars at sham science ,decimate economies, and force everyone into a one world order?
Hard fucking no.

The climate has changed. It is changing and it will change again. We as human have only but two options and neither involves throwing money at it.

We either adapt or perish. That's the only two options.

True. I updated the question.

It's been changing since the last ice age......

More tax dollars will definitely help stop it. Buying AL Gore another mansion and lear jet is the best way to slow it down.

They seem to be indoctrinating our young ones into believing cow farts are making the world warmer. The left is pretty gullible, so I'd say 50% of the people in the US believe it. The other 50% with 1/2 brain doesn't buy the propaganda.

True, but look at how the most brainwashed generation of adults have just voted red in record numbers.

By that metric, I'd guess a little more than half the country generally are skeptical of at least how bullshit the money thrown at it is. Even in the edited context it's broad and complicated though. I think most people are probably sick of being told they can't have grocery bags, plastic straws, etc while the wealthy jet all over the place, but it's probably still 50/50 on people who think humans are causing serious harm to the planet. The people who think we're all doomed in 10 years is probably still a fairly small minority and mostly among teens-early 20s.

The green energy shit pushing electric cars, and solar or wind and shutting down of traditional coal or nuclear plants I think is on it's way out the door. They overplayed it and even some of the most leftist people I know think wind farms are horrible and the electric car push is way too fast and unrealistic. I think Europe is probably further behind on figure all that out but Germany really showed them what a stupid idea shutting down all their nuke plants was.

My first instinct was to make this argument, but you have to remember a sizeable portion who voted probably aren't all in on the red side of the climate stuff. You've got a lot of people who just held their nose and quietly voted because the economy was such a big factor. It's certainly an indicator but I think it paints a broader picture than is realistic.

Not sold on climate change, but I fall into the "chemicals and shit we are pumping into the air, soil and water can't be good for the environment" camp. Don't confuse me with a we need extra taxes and regulations as the answer type person either.

I believe we have went down this rabbit hole before on here, but if we are increasing the CO2, why aren't trees and plants growing bigger and more rapidly?

Been changing since the beginning and will continue to change with or without man's "help".

As a child of the 70's, I remember when we were heading towards a new Ice Age. Then it was Global Warming, now it's "Climate Change". Why? Because the warming trend stopped all on its own with no human intervention (oops).

Interesting thing: when our planet was warming up, so weren't all the other planets in our solar system... either our pollution was so bad it was affecting other planets, or pollution had very little (if anything) to do with it.

In the 1400's the Chinese Navy sailed through a nearly ice-free Arctic circle.

Greenland actually used to be "green" with farms and such.

The "hockey stick" global temperature model they paraded around was completely made up. Actual historical data showed a "mountain" (compared to our "hill") in the 1200's - 1400's.

Someone just figured out they can control governments and people by scaring them with normal weather patterns.

As long as government and others make money off of the “climate change” agenda, the fake frenzy won’t stop.

But was climate change a top issue with that demographic  . If I was young, I would be voting the non-war mongering party so I don't get drafted to fight and die in foreign land so that the military industrial complex and politicians can line their pockets over the climate change issue.

They are. Maybe not the bigger part, but there's more trees on the planet now that at any point in history we know of. Been a long time since I've read up on any of this stuff, but I think a lot of these climate models they reference don't take into account how much co2 is removed or at least intentionally show a lot less than what actually gets removed by plants.

Dd the ban on CFC's actually heal the hole in the ozone that was going to kill us in the 80s/90's?
It started rapidly shrinking after that ban. It's still closing, but it shrinks noticeably annually. I think it's projected to be closed completely by the 2050s.

Agreed, but also count me resentful of the alarmist lies from the granola-based life forms who fail to mention that >80% of the plastic in the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch™" is bags, totes, bottles and scraps of line from fishing vessels / activities (not consumer items drifting from land); or that >80% of "microplastics" in the environment are actually from paint degradation and tire scrub (not sundry items breaking down and becoming like scary little cyborg nanobots that actively enter the food chain).

When assholes think it's OK to cook the books on weather station temperature readings or to omit key facts (because their cause is so important that lying is OK), I root for the failure of whatever cause those assholes wish to move forward.

To be clear, I hate plastics in general & would rather see glass or metals (fully recyclable) used more when possible. Plastic recycling is a bullshit scam - the best post-consumer fate of plastics is grinding and incineration to produce energy. Get that carbon back into the atmosphere where it can feed the plants :flipoff2:

We could have had that garbage patch cleaned up a long time ago if we spent a tiny fraction of the money and effort on it as we have on the myth of "man made climate change".

It's also interesting that the party that's obsessed with the environment has embraced the sociopath warhawks hell bent on destroying the globe with open arms. I'm sure there are cat converters and DEF systems on all the war fighting equipment we are using:laughing:

Yes we must keep marching towards a nuclear world war because Putin allegedly hates gay people. And at the same time I need to buy a $70k+ electric car in the future and get rid of my gas stove so life as we know it doesn't end on the planet:homer:
