The Bureau of Land Management is considering the designation of a new mountain bike trail on public lands north of Kirtland, New Mexico. The BLM is currently in the scoping phase to receive feedback about the proposed project through May 17,2024.

According to the BLM they are, “considering the inclusion of Class I E-bikes to provide additional outdoor recreation opportunities for an emerging demographic that includes older or disabled riders”

The BLM is proposing to take a non-official route and realign the route to create a two loop trail approximately 10 miles long. The project will also include a parking area at the trailhead. This is a small project but a great step in the right direction for the Bureau of Land Management to address the growing needs of e-bike users on public lands.
