Ugh. So again 1 step forward 2 back. Put the track bar in, needs a dog leg in it to clear the pumpkin and I'm going to have to notch the frame to clear the track bar. Have all the shit to do high steer. Won't fit. Going to have to run crossover y link steering. But at least it was still a step for it.

Just a few placeholder pics of stuff I didn't put in the last one. Fit is snug everywhere. Managed to squeeze in steering clearance on everything first shot in. Going to cut the engine crossmember support back out (I just don't care for it and right now it feels like an afterthought every time I look at it). Will have to do a couple sketches to see what I want instead. Want to incorporate it into an engine/transmission skid.

So I got the steering column in the weekend, along with the seat mounts in the front and the cross spars for the roll cage tie ins. Also got the "L" track mounts tied into the body spars and the floor for the rear seat. Nice little custom clamp for the column made.

The unfortunate part.... I had to cut the entire top out of the cage. Not enough head clearance for my tall ass with the seats in. Have to build it like a Gen right cage with a slight bump in the upper tubes. The L track turned out bitchin, with tons of tie ins for additional cargo. Going to build a hidden box below the rear seat for storage. That's about all for today.

Looking good.

Just seeing all the nutcerts you put in made me feel ill.:flipoff2:God I hate those things. Maybe I just suck at installing them, but I give every one I do a little tack now.

Oh.... I feel you. It was the Neverending process in the middle of it. But sure looks clean when they're done. 7 holes per main rail, with a hole per rail cap and 3 per side rail for a grand total of 42 holes...:barf:

Worked on a rear seat mount that will bolt into my "L" track. Integrated eat belt mounts (will have a detachable shoulder harness bar clamped onto cage).

42" bench fits nice with room to spare.
20220113_195650.jpg
quick pins with room underneath to integrate storage boxes.
20220113_195924.jpg
plenty of room for beer coolers

makes me feel pretty good to see it with links, seats, wheels and tires,a full body and steering components. A long way to go, but when you start with a partial tub. Not bad in a little over a year.

One of my favorite builds.
Great work love the wheelbase and the stance. Awesome cage once your head self clearances it a bit!
Haha. For sure. Thats why I mounted all the seats. Now I can squeeze the roof back in. Still trying to make it so I can fit a factory looking hard top on it in the end.

"Not enough leg room"...............................That's funny right there.:lmao:

Pretty sure you just won that category.
I really need to move the seat forward another 2 inches. Really gonna cram the kids in there.

On the bright side I still have tons of room for ice chests behind the seat too.

This is a very slick build. You have some great ability and vision. Sorry if you already mentioned it, where are you mounting your fuel tank?

It will be a custom cell under the rear floor. I am going to attempt to run a long hard line down the frame so I can utilize the stock filler location next to the drivers door opening. Should be really slick if I can pull it off. And thank you.

I’m not a big fan of Jeep’s, but recognize and appreciate good work when I see it. There’s lots of it here. Fun reading through it all.

This might sound stupid, but I’ve never heard of L-track before. Im sure I’ve seen it, but never knew it was kind of a standard thing. I DDG it because of this thread and I believe it will be in my future. Thankyou.

Ill be watching now.

It is some of the handiest stuff for tying down gear or being able to move things around. I had only discovered it a few years ago. Extremely common in the aircraft world. And thank you.

gt1guy, my head is definitely thanking and it's just tall enough that I should be able to make a stock looking hard top for the jeep and keep it all under wraps.

I'm inundation you guys with updates this weekend and you're just going to have to put up with it. Roof is all back in and tacked together. Happy with how it turned out. Now back to the shop to work on shock hoops and the engine cage.

And.... the shock hoops are in. Calling it quits for the daytime engine cage is going to eat a lot of time, as I'll have one runner up front to protect the radiator, and one double runner over the engine (also tied to the firewall) to protect the engine. And a runner from the hoops back to the firewall on each side tied to the cage. Basically turn it into a tube buggy under the sheet metal.

Nice build man, stumbled across it chasing the 4-LInk Calculator thread. I'm doing something similar:

LINE-X Jeep

I too added some L-Track,I like how you did the storage, gonna borrow that idea. Keep up the good work!

Basically the same thing. Were welding 72 t-nuts to hold them in place. I put down some Steel-It as I don't like metal on metal, we will be covering the entire tub with LINE-X XS-350.
