Because fuck you.

Working on my show. Got most of it up. Programmed, working. Still need to add verticals between and on either side of the garage doors, replace a pixel to make the left house vertical work, make a grinch silhouette and add him. Maybe some flood lights. But I’m getting close. This takes about 3 weeks to get all finished and tidy.

growing up our lights went up after halloween, didn’t turn them on till dec.

:lmao:
I won’t actually run the show until after Thanksgiving. With this shit, you gotta put it up do testing do repairs and make adjustments and sometimes that can take a while.

My 6yo daughter was ranting today...

Note~ Some homeowner put up Xmas lights for Halloween-

I needed to replace a bunch of C9 led light strings that I put on my house because they were dying last year. One of my neighbors had some lights that looked good so I asked him. He called them "permanent lights" and said they were a Govee pro kit. When I looked them up they were $$$ ($6xx). I saw them at Sams a few months later for $219 for a 100 feet. I bought them and just put them up recently. So far I am pleased and would recommend them to anything considering them. You can control remotely over wifi, change colors, come up with your own themes, etc. I made this scrolling marqee for election night and left it going for several days.

I'll look forward to seeing yalls stuff. I always enjoy seeing peoples lights, but never inspired enough to do much myself. As for me, fawk putting up and taking down Christmas lights. What a colossal waste of energy and resources.

That's why I did the permanent lights I posted above. They stay up. You can just use them as clear light or change it up for every holiday. You can just leave them off.

Yeah that's a possibility.

I personally know people that pay other people to put up their Christmas lights and take them down yearly, and the cost is more than double what you paid for those. EVERY YEAR. And I'd probably rather do that than jack with doing it myself....but permanent lights? Not a bad solution.

That's a bunch of my neighbors. They have even come to ask my I have a spare bulb or fuse because their "light guy" can't come look at their lights for a couple of days. It takes everything in my to be nice to them.

I put my own stuff up because that's part of the fun (we did it as a family when I was a kid and I want my kids to be part of it since they enjoy it). It takes a long time to put up as much as we do and the lights on the house I had to do all myself. With kids time is short so this seemed like an easy way to cut that out. My kids love picking the themes for other holidays. Most of what's left is much easier and the kids can help with.

Haven’t done this in years. Wish I had time.

It's snowing right now and that means christmas decorations, movies and music to me. Ste wants to wait until after Thanksgiving. We don't even do a thanksgiving some years so why not just have a turkey dinner in a christmas decorated house?

We do not do any outside lights or decorations.

Lot easier to put up when there's no snow and is below zero.

Some folks around here do lights that stay on all winter. Not necessarily Christmas lights. It's nice to see when it's dark like 18hrs a day... or at work, 24hrs a day.
