This year is the 30th annual Chile Challenge in southern New Mexico. This is a 4 day trail ride event that supports the Las Cruces Four wheel Drive Club which works closely with the BLM and other land management groups to develop challenging 4x4 routes and keep existing ones open. The club has spent a lot of time and money in legal battles keeping trails open, and they need all the support they can get.

This event is primarily oriented towards hard and extreme rock crawling, but there are moderate and easy trail options suitable for even stock vehicles offered each day. There is a big potluck dinner and raffle held at camp as well food and off road vendors on site. This is a fun, laid back event that is worth making the trip.

Well, another event cancelled :mad3:

from the club:
Dear Chile Challenge Participants,

This year has been most unusual to say the least. I know that many of us have and are continuing to struggle through this pandemic. Unfortunately, with great reluctance The Las Cruces Four Wheel Drive Club Board and The Chile Challenge Committee have decided to postpone the 2020 Chile Challenge Event till October 2021.

We did not come to this decision lightly and we have been struggling monthly awaiting some positive sign from the state of NM that we would be able to hold the 2020 CC. We have spent a lot of effort figuring out ways to safely hold the event, if we were even able to, and adhere to local, state, and federal restrictions on group gathering size and social distancing recommendations. Our state restrictions and mandates are such now that our event would not be the same even if we could hold it.

We want to Thank all those people that have volunteered to help at this years CC we can’t put this event on without your participation. We know some of you have put a lot of effort into preparing for the event, for that we are grateful and apologize for having to postpone. We look forward to everyone coming back next year.

We will be sending out an email to all paid registered participants about the refund process.

The Chile Challenge Committee, and the Board of Directors for the Las Cruces Four Wheel Drive Club hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy, during these crazy times and we look forward seeing you at The 2021 Chile Challenge.

Sincerely,
Barry Prahl
2020 Chile Challenge Chairman
