Sorry for the screenshots, makes it easier for me to track the recipes I try out / keep for later vs writing stuff down.

I used my Kitchen Aid to mix the batter, easy peasy, efficient vs using separate dishes.

Sugar?

*not judging, raised on Okie grandma’s cornbread. I never liked “sweet” cornbread, which may be the norm in some places :homer:

Cast iron cornbread is the best :smokin:

Yes, sugar. I am sure one can source recipe with no sugar.
However I didn't use what recipe asked for - likely half as much.

Damn sugar is in salt just about:), when one reads labels hard not to see it in the list of ingredients of typically bought products.

Next up will be cast iron bread recipe I found just the other day. Decided I will start baking my own loaf vs store bought stuff.

No need to go overboard honestly. Mine are nothing special, import jobs that have been in storage shed before I revived them and put them to use.

Want to add a dutch oven down the road, perhaps a griddle/flat plate combo too. Should do me solid.

Keep them seasoned and used.

Check your local swap meet, perhaps you can luck out with some made in USA goods.
There is a reddit cast iron forum, folks as passionate about it as we are about our hobbies.
 
I once stirred a can of creamed corn into a box of jiffy, then baked in cast, don’t remember if I used an egg or not, tasted good but it was dense.
