Casket made from hand!!!!

Anyone ever done it??? My friend/business partner mil is dying…. Month’s back she told him, she wants him to build her a pine box casket!!!!

We were brainstorming this morning, ideas on construction and what funeral home regulations might be out there!!!! Not sure if she’s actually gonna get buried in it or just cremated….. sounds like there will at least be a viewing, as he was talking about a locking arm to hold the top up!!!!

I've thought about this before. I'd want mine made without glue. Maybe dovetailed or some sort of wooden pegs to hold it together. But in reality, I don't want to get buried. I want to skydive, without a parachute, into a feeding frenzy of great whites.

My 85 year old father died last March of a stroke, he was living in Belize on my brothers farm. All of us siblings flew down, built his casket from left over 1/4" wood my brother had lying around, dug my fathers grave and buried him on the property. It was actually a sad but heart warming event. All of us siblings had drifted apart over the last 30 years, building the casket and digging the grave as a family brought us all back together.
We simply stapled the box together using a pneumatic staple gun and lined it with some old sheets, took about 3 hours. Took us a full day to dig the hole.

My kid's got a spot in the yard picked out for me, next to the dog and cat. Zoning may have an opinion.

My Dad and Mom have a spot picked out for themselves on their homestead. The state says you've got 24 hours to shovel.
