Could I piggy back on this for a 2001 VW Beetle? Vin is 3VWCP21CX2M401176

Should be a 1.0L TDI with auto. I'm trying to get a feel for registration/title history before I look further into it.

So my daughter went and looked at the car in the OP and it didn't seem to have any corrosion issues that they could see. She was in a shitty cellular coverage area, so was having a difficult time getting any pictures out at the time. Anyway, she bought it. Seemed pretty clean, other than curb rash on the wheels. Even still had the window sticker right on top in the glove box. I'll be sure to let you know when the transmission falls out.

I was actually reading up on these a bit and it seems many of the transmission issues are related to a bad body ground.

Since she didn't really have easy access under the car, I figured the exhaust hanger should be a good tell tale of the rest of the car. Brake calipers didn't seem rusted to shit.

Sister runs a used car chain; its quite common for dealers in the NE to ship their cars to auctions in the SE to get higher prices for them. She runs a title history on everything before bidding and finds over half the cars at auction in FL and GA are from NY, NJ, MD, MA, etc.
Auction cars in FL that aren't from the north, were in a hurricane at home. Same with TX. Tons of flooded vehicles.

NJ and MD aren't bad at all with regard to rust, especially on anything new enough that a dealer is bidding on.

Brake lines will reliably outlast all the other shit you listed.

Retards love to screech about them though because "hurr durr safety" or something.
had a 2005 taurus in here couple weeks ago. oil change, couple tires, etc. the passenger floor was rusted completely away, you could drop both feet through it easily if the carpet werent there. rest of the undercarriage was about the same, no rockers, etc.

but the brake lines. you'd have sworn they were brand new. whatever ford made those from had to have been outlawed by now, they'll never need replaced. not good for parts sales.

they werent new lines either. we sold the car 12 years ago and have been servicing it the entire time.
