Leaving Thursday evening and I am thinking that I can make it past Vegas before I start nodding off.

Too cheap to pay for a hotel for a few hours by myself to sleep so going to crash in the car and get up at dawn to finish to drive.

Anyone know a great spot to pull over and sleep without getting Overbeared in the middle of the night? Little chance of hassle from po-po, etc.

YUGE plus for someplace with an awesome sunrise view over the the desert to take in.

Try and make it to WalMart in Cedar City. Just remembered Mesquite has a WalMart now.

I slept in the parking lot behind the Casino with the rollercoaster in Primm a couple years ago too. I wasn't thinking about views.

It's like an hour and a half. You're in Vegas. Rail a line and hit the road. Either that or you're in Vegas. You can probably find a hotel room for dirt cheap.

Stop in mesquite and park behind one of the casinos. They allow rv’s to park out behind the place. We did that going to and from quartzite. Get up and head into the casino and have a cheap breakfast. They have security that travels thru every hour or two so you will be safe there.

I want to wake up in the desert and enjoy the sunrise. Its a personal thing for my wife, who passed away, and I don't get to the Utah desert often.

I have noplace to stay in St. George and the place I am going doesn't open until 9 so I figured I would crash out in the car in the desert and catch the sunrise as well. Then drive into town

Central California

Thru vegas on 15 up to St George

Figure Ill pass Vegas around midnight. Get out of town and into the desert and find a place. Get 5 hours sleep maybe and be up before the sun and soak in the sunrise assuming decent weather

Renting a little economy car. I think a Focus or some little thing that is cheap on gas

are you cutting through techapi and joining the 15 in the north end gnarstow?

Drive until you see a bunch of big rigs stopped for the night. That is usually a safe place that you won't get hassled.

Bonus points if you suck a trucker's weener and snuggle close for the night.

How much does it cost you to try for the bonus points?:flipoff2:

caruthers caynon is a little out the way but is a nice place to wake up, but leaves you just outside of primm
jean lake ohv puts you in between primm and vegas

I15n just before 170 junction. Truck parking area. Pretty quiet. Slept there a time or 2 in the front seat of my pickup. After Moapa just before Bunkerville

This is more that area I am thinking but probably a little more towards Utah.

I saw a Virgin River Campground in Az that looks good and another place up towards the Utah border that may be a spot depending on how tired I am getting.

I want a nice easy +/- hour drive into St. George in the morning. Maybe grab a morning hike before heading in.

stop in Mesquite. There are a couple of good big gas stations there, park near the trucks OR park at the casino and crash.. it is safe. When I lived in Co, I used park my rv there often on the way to CA to visit.

I did a cross country trip to Moab last October and spent a few nights sleeping in the bed of my truck at rest stops.

The guy in the Focus with the yellow stained sheet hung across the windshield and the 3/4 filled Gatorade piss jug sitting next to the driver's door got the nod for the "definitely wants to be left alone" award.

Just a suggestion if you need some props to go along with your night's stay.

The kanarraville rest stop is nice, it's where I'd stop if I wanted close to St George.

Is st george the destination? I do the stg-vegas drive for work and have pulled over to sleep a few times when im too tired to push myself back home safely. Get off at the moapa exit and drive east until you find a spot you like. When that sun comes up over valley of fire you will have the view you're looking for. If you need a place to crash in stg i can put you up.

Just pull into Lance's driveway. He won't mind

Find a hotel that has a continental breakfast. Park in their parking lot. Wake up, go inside for free breakfast.

That's what I used to do when I traveled cross country in my 20's

I haven't seen a hotel breakfast in a year? anyone else?

this was gonna be my suggestion. Easily the prettiest area you drive through between Vegas and St. George.
