I will be at a resort between Ft. Myers and Naples here in a couple weeks for a work trip. I’ll have a little bit of down time to burn, maybe a half day. Anything I should have at the top of my list to check out?

I usually go to the beach when I am close to one. How are the beaches in this area? Only Florida beach I have been to is Miami Beach, which was a ton of fun. I see there is the Edison Ford Estates in Ft. Myers. Worth checking out? I usually try to find a science/tech museum or a military museum when I travel for work, and the estates have a museum as part of it. I do not drink anymore, so breweries and such have lost their appeal to me. What do you all know about in the area? Thanks!

Parents live in Naples, didn't grow up there, but it's family 'home' for me now.

Beaches are usually beautiful, but with the hurricane that just blew through they may not be as pristine as usual. The further south you go to get to the beach in Naples, the less crowded it will be. I like parking and walking down south along the Port Royal neighborhood. Fun to look at the $50million+ properties on the beach.

If you want some good food recommendations in Naples I'm happy to help, everything from pub grub to high-end, tons of options.

But fair warning, you are pretty well into snowbird season now, so there are lots of blue hairs all over the place. And fair warning if you're driving, they love to run red lights, so don't ever be the first car into the intersection when the light turns green.

Thanks for the tips!

Naples swamp buggy races are about to start

Looks like I’ll miss them, unfortunately. I remember watching them as a kid on TNN? Spike? Along with world of outlaws circle track and such. I really enjoyed the swamp buggy races as a kid.

Not sure where exactly where in the Everglades he is, but there's this 80 something year old guy who lives In a house only accessable by airboat that does tours. He was just posting on FB yesterday about this being his slow season. It's on our list to go check out.
