California vows to ban sale of new gasoline-powered passenger vehicles in 2035

Newscum is such a douche. He's just trying to get some likes back after pissing off the whole state with ridiculous mandates. Is a governor eo the same as a potus as in any future leader can reverse it? :homer:

how does this even translate to likes? the idiots that support this are the same ones screeching about people should still be inside

#Major2022 :smokin: if you don't know, look it up!

Liberal California agenda, move the hoards into the cites, repopulate the (burnt) wild with Wolves and Grizzly Bears.

Newsome and the liberal controlled state are a bunch idiots. We have enough trouble supplying electricity to homes and businesses how the F are they going to supply all the vehicles? What a douche.

Was out at the GM plant they are refitting for EVs yesterday and said something almost exactly to this effect.

apparently I’m a prophet.

Am I the only one who read that article and thought to himself "bullshit."?

15 years to ditch gas vehicles?

According to the internets, there's 15 million automobiles registered in California. The infrastructure to support them will be around a long time.

Not exactly what the article said. Supposedly it will ban the sale of new gasoline powered vehicles.

Right, but there needs to be infrastructure to support electric vehicles or it won't work, and there's no incentive to build infrastructure unless there's lots of people cruising around with electric vehicles, and why would anyone want to cruise around in an electric vehicle when there's all this great infrastructure for gasoline vehicles?

True, but that's not the issue Harry Johnson was talking about. IMO unless there's a huge breakthrough in battery tech that allows much great range and much faster recharge than the current norm electric vehicles are NOT a practical option for a person's only vehicle.

that's the same attitude people had about banning diesels and when the BS diesel "smog checks" started. yet, here we are and they are doing it to equipment

consider that the fucking SAFE firearm act is STILL in effect despite not a single manufacturer being able to comply with the "microstamping" technology. damn near 20 years of that shit now, still somehow on the books as 'legal'

1. Buy new gasoline powered vehicle in 14 years

2. Maintain it extremely well so it lasts a long time

3. ???

4. Profit.

It's gonna be looking like cuba around here by 2055 with everyone maintaining 20 year old cars they don't want to give up.

Sure it is practical, all vehicles are owed by the state and you just drive between vehicle depots and transfer your luggage from your dead battery car to one that is waiting fully charged for you on longer trips. For short trips you call caltrans to schedule a drop off and pick up of the state's car. No need to leave the state as you can surf and ski on the same day, Cali has everything you could ever need.

My father in law got hit by that. He had a 1976 BMW 2002 that he thought he was never going to have to smog again. Ended up selling it after a few years of pain trying to keep it smog legal.

So CA is already doing brown-outs, black-outs and demanding people adjust electricity use...

But is pushing for more electric vehicles...

Seems like a plan destined for failure...

my scout is a 76 and it's been off the road for nearly 20 years now

my pickup was nearly 20 exempted when the law got changed, i was pissed. But, it wasn't "that" long ago and people have already normalized it as 'no big deal'. same shit can/will happen with ICE's
