Anyone experienced it?

The 2021 Chevy Volt will firmly be ahead of Tesla next year with it. I was just looking at that car and happened across the SC feature. It's good. Very good according to the videos I'm watching.

I want to make sure this is understood:

IT DOES LANE CHANGES AUTOMATICALLY IF YOU USE THE TURN SIGNAL

I repeat

IT DOES LANE CHANGES AUTOMATICALLY IF YOU USE THE TURN SIGNAL

Do you cretins understand what this means?

Yes the Tesla will still be the Tofu-eating EV flagship but honestly the Big 3 have moved and the Chevy Volt will be the best EV in the world. 250 mile range, comfortable, easy charging, LiDar Super Cruise, NEVER run out of electrons. General Motors makes motors, and they will beat Tesla in the last. Jay Leno just claimed that he's done 90,000 miles in his and 5,800 was on dinosaurs.

The Volt is a better implementation of EV/hybrid technology, it's practical, it's easy, it's cheap, and it has the best and only true hands-free driver assistance, DOT legal.

FYI this means you can jack off going down the road and it will be legal if nobody sees you.

I'd normally agree but I think the Volt has gotten great chops even if you factor in astro-marketing.

The record will show that I breathe and bleed Ford blue. The Chevy Volt is the best one, GM brought in magnetic adjustable shock-absorbers leaving the Japanese using mechanical valves :lmao: and Ferrari using American parts.

I mean... GM is kind of killing it right now. I hate to say. :frown:

Jeep is doing a SC clone as well, guess I'd mention Jeep has been doing it right since the Americans got out of the way and the Italians were put in charge.

Isn't it odd that Jeep is doing a SC clone but FIA is not? I think it's because it's Fiat and Jeep is the only domestic division allowed to.

But it still looks like a volt.

There's about 7 non-shit looking modern vehicles. They're all supercars of some type. I don't see your point. Every non-premium vehicle in the world looks like a volt right now, and all the super-premium ones except a few which still kind of look like an old car. I'm not aware of a single attractive new automotive design trend.

My wife has a 2019 Volvo XC90 with the Pilot Assist stuff. Basically it will drive for you going down the road (no lane changes, just follows the lines even around corners). Anyhow, I hate it. Makes me nervous as shit. It does a great job doing its thing, but I still don't trust it. I'll just drive myself.

Agreed. Not too mention how poor some of the road striping is in many areas. Neat tech, but I'm not relying on it.

Yeah that's why they're going with LiDar maps.

As I foretold (me and everyone wise), this will be the way forward and now this is proof that it works.

All other driving tech is about Intellectual Property, especially Tesla.

Welp, sorry, that's all irrelevant now. The GM, Ford, Jeep, and all future Map contributors will merge into the only system which will be legal for self-driving.

That's it, it's over. I'm shorting all my TSLA.

No seriously though it's over.

Didn't know GM was bringing back the Volt....

The Bolt premium models should be getting the super cruise though.

I don't understand the desire to own this type of shit

I was driving my wife's mercedes suv on a 4 lane highway. I was in the outside lane. Car in the inside lane was slowing to merge into a turn lane. Car about 300 ft in front of me was slowing to turn directly out of the lane.

I slowly pressed the brake to slow and the fucking car went into emergency braking. My daughter looked at me like WTF. We cleared and she goes, that was a little aggressive, wasn't it. I said WTF, that wasn't me. The car fucking beeped and then tried to throw us through the fucking windshield.

I was way closer and closing very fast on the car that was in the inside lane but wasn't anywhere near hitting the car in my lane. I don't know which car it freaked out about but it was fucking bullshit.

Besides, around here, you can't see any lanes, it's just suggestions. It also beeps at big potholes you straddle.

Wait, you need the car to drive you so you can pull your horn? Huh, my semi didn't drive itself...

I'm still not going to trust it 100%

I have ridden in a relatives Acura with all the bells and whistles that keep it in a lane and some other stuff all based on stripes on the road and other camera's sensors. It only acted correctly about 50% of the time. Several of the roads it failed to even know where the lane was had stripes that were decent. Not new or perfect, but slightly above average for Houston. Based on that, I'm still leary of trusting any of those systems.

Coworker has a brand new Ram that randomly slams on the brakes in reverse, it's hilarious. It's the whole collision avoidance 'we can save 2.83 children a year from their parents backing over them with this' thing but it also does it randomly at cracks in the pavement or if the temp is between 3 and 105 degrees.

I have a coworker with the same problem with his new ram. At work we all back into our parking but for whatever reason he cant, it doesn't make a difference if the parking lot is empty or full. I was watching him one day and he was getting frustrated, finally he figures he'll pull far enough ahead to RAM it into his spot at high speed, brakes lock up and all he did was leave ruts in the dirt.

Diff tech. You can't trust SC 100%. That's the killer app of it.

If it comes to it, I'd pay a premium for a car that doesn't have any of this shit. Already beginning to affect my insurance.

don't teslas drive themselves, like navigating on-ramps and shit?
Thought that was the whole thing about them, that they got some autopilot thing that will even work in traffic and shit.

I would shoot that truck in the face.

I still won't trust it 100%. That's my point. When has any new tech come out and worked 100%?

Tell that to the guy that died when his Tesla ran him into a barrier wile cruising down the freeway.
