Anybody have one? Anybody have an opinion of their cast vs. forged approach? They claim to be better than Springfield in some ways, and I don't know either's specifics well enough. But I do want a battle rifle in .308.

well of course they claim they are better. Sure aren't goona say that their shit sucks compared to so an so:laughing:

Other n that. I never heard of them

I have a jra built bula. It is nice. Haven't shot a ton and probably won't, but it fills the m14 shaped hole in my collection. The likelihood of an average shooter shooting a battle rifle enough for the difference in forged vs cast reciever in longevity is very slim.its somewhere in the range of 40k rounds. To shoot that you would need to replace multiple barrels. It's kinda cool that they forg them out, but it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
That being said one of the guys on fal files who has and builds a metric shit ton of m14s has built on quite a few of the bula receivers and especially likes m21 for his scoped rifles.
He's forgotten more about m14s than ill probably ever know. He has had nothing bad to say about the bula recievers.
I have heard about qc issues with both Springfield and bula though.
Are a fan of the m14? Just looking for a battle rifle? Jus Wanting a semiauto 7.62x51?
I l I ke mine for what it is and I don't try to make it what it's not.

There are no decent functioning current production fal mags and all the surplus mags are sold out. Fal doesn't mount a scope that well either. G3 ptr91 is probably the easiest entry into the battle rifle realm.

Big fan of the m14. Really big, why I don't own one already is a mystery to me. I was gonna get a m1a socom with the 18" barrel but then that LGS went out of business.

I'd probably spring for the bula over the Springfield especially if you are looking to mount optics which you probably are if you're looking at the m21. The various optics mounts for the m14 can be finicky. Coming loose, stripping bolts ect.
The m21 eliminates that.
I don't like scout scope setups so the forward mount on the Springfield scout rifle doesn't do much for me.
Fun rifles to shoot the Springfield and check-mate mags are available and work well.
There's all kinds of different stock setups to run. I prefer mine in wood which I did a hand rubbed blo finish. Fiberglass is probably the best all around stock without adding a bunch of weight.

I've got a Bula. Good gun, very reliable and on the better side of accuracy for an m14 build.

That said for how much I don't shoot it, there is temptation to sell it and get something im more likely to use. When I want that feel id rather grab the garand.

forgot about the mags
BR is not precision rifle, it is shitty 3+ moa noise maker
if you're putting glass on it just buy an AR10, none of the other three are remotely comparable

I'm open to swapping my '36 s/42 for it if you're not using it. Finicky but I think it's a weak mag spring that's fucking me.

I like the look, and every fudd from here to CA has an ar. I am in love with the idea of Vietnam era sniper teams ala Carlos Hathcock beating the Viet cong at their own game with a "likeness" of said weapon. If I wanted an ar10 I would buy 7 of them, one for every day of the week. But I don't, my bud who was a green beret in the '80s and early '90s had a poster framed on his wall with Carlos and a m14 style rifle, that pic has stuck with me since '97.

I've had a "Loaded" M1a since 1998. My favorite iron sights bench rifle. I have a Springfield second gen 4x14 scope for it, but the Springfield mounts suck. They loosen up if your not constantly checking them. I don't remember the last time I mounted the scope.

The match sights are my favorite iron sights. Long barrel and small aperture. Very fun rifle.

I have no info about Bula. I didn't know they existed until I saw this thread.

This.

The "NM" sights are almost magical and have an adjustment of 1/2 moa. I wouldn't even imagine putting a scope on mine. I'm sure the mil-spec irons would pale in comparison, however.

ive started looking into them about 6 months ago. would take a LRB or other quality make just as well, depending on price being scaled accordingly.

As I age I am more interested in the m14 for mounting optics. To drill the nm garand would be heresy.

I’ve had my Springfield M1A that I bought used for about 25 years now. It’s had over 10K through it and I haven’t had any problems. Yes, 10K by me. Ammo used to be $100/K and it was shot frequently.
I added a bayonet lug in SEP ‘04 and a NM front sight after I was able to shoot better than the original. It’s just a bare bones, rack grade rifle inna GI fiberglass stock. I have spares of everything except the receiver, barrel and stock that I’ve never had to use.
I’ve not heard of Bula before this also. If it’s better than SA, you don’t have anything to worry about.
