My friend upgraded his stock 1st Gen Tundra rear diff with Yukon 4.88 gears and the trueurac locker. In under less than 10k miles, he blew the ring gear (pics attached) while towing a trailer. Yukon sent him a replacement under warranty but looking at the broken vs replacement, they seem very different. Wondering what was it that Yukon sent him originally that broke, if anyone can id the gear by the pics.

Thanks.

So you're beached in the garage and using the emergency thread to ask a Tuesday question

Yeah, this, OP please don't use the bat signal.

Help flag off, no need to mobilize assholes to rescue someone somewhere they can't get out of on their own.

My apologies, didn't realize tagging "HELP" actually means anything. I thought it is just forum's shiny buttons to click on. Let me see if I can remove it.

I already did.

But yes, HELP tag means you're stuck, fucked and have an immediate need.

I have heard of Yukon filling orders with parts from their value line USA Standard. Not sure if that is the case or even possible.

Some say the USA standard stuff is Yukon that did not meet some non-critical tolerance.

Is there a model number stamped on the ring or pinion? does it match the new set?

The lip is odd, not a toyota guy, did certain years come with a tone ring for ABS?

Let me check on the markings or model numbers on the broken vs new gear.

The lip is odd because we have two other newly built 8" diffs from East Coast Gear Supply (different project) - both were built with Yukon kits - and both are like the new replacement gear that Yukon sent. So the broken one with the lip is something we have never seen either.

Tip of teeth look shiny/polished and the root look smooshed? Need a better pic tho
I can get better pics but my buddy and I thought, one of the pics shows something like a bubble or air pocket at bottom of that left most sheared tooth (pointing at it in the pic)
