If your worried about the rod, Amazon has them for $20, clutch $20, and clutch tool $16. Might as well throw a set of rings at it also. It’s still a flat head Briggs in the end, it don’t really matter how nice the parts are. A harbor freight prredator is light years better for not much more money than the parts to fix the Briggs . Hammer mechanic it back together, and kept full of oil and it will run or do it the right way and it will run longer probably, but it’s still a Briggs

Kinda what I was thinking. I can rent a tiller for $50 so anything above that isn't really worth it. I think I'll put a new clutch on, clean up the rod and see how long it runs for.

If it has a nut instead of that one way square drive thing, do not use an impact repeatedly on that nut

Killed my friends bestest mower he ever had that way.

I use an m18 drill with 1/4 extension in the chuck

No, its pretty much reassembled except the new clutch that I keep forgetting to order.
