Bluetooth Gaming Headset?

I've been playing D4 on the laptop in the living room while Jewels watches stuff on Netflix I'm not really interested in. I occasionally look up and ask her what demon or monster Sam & Dean are fighting now and she occasionally high fives me when I kill a boss. I play with the audio pretty low, or with my Bluetooth earbuds. I'd like actual gaming headset so I can talk to people too.

Any recommendations for Bluetooth headset with microphone that DOESN'T REQUIRE A DONGLE to work full function on a PC? Ideally it'd work on Xbox and PC.

Xbox function would be nice but not mandatory. Flip up to mute microphone is preferred too. No bright colors, no RGB, no cat ears, no bold geometric shapes, I had no idea it would be so hard to find a damn Bluetooth headset.

I bought a Logitech G535 on Amazon after specifically searching for "Bluetooth gaming headset," it was a "recommendation" when it arrived and I discovered it's not Bluetooth, you have to use the included USB receiver dongle. It's in its box on its way back to Amazon.

The stuff I'm seeing advertised as multi platform, still seem to have specific Xbox or Playstation versions. Even if the Xbox versions also offer Bluetooth the reviews seem hit or miss whether they are actually fully functional on PC via Bluetooth without an Xbox dongle.

I don't want to spend $200 on a stupid headset, but I'd rather pay for one than having to buy a pair.

The Turtle Beach 700 Max is silly expensive, I thought would be great, but it looks like it needs an Xbox dongle to have full function on PC.

Razer Kaira Pro has my attention, it looks like it might be the droid I'm looking for, about 1/2 the price of the Turtle Beach. Reviews seem 50/50 on whether the Bluetooth actually works like I want.

SteelSeries options seem to have the same issue as Turtle Beach.

If I give up on Xbox connectivity, the EPOS/Sennheiser GSP 670 looks like a decent option.

Any recommendations? Is there something I'm missing? I'd think there would be a glut of options, but it seems Microsoft is assholes, no surprise.

I don't think you actually need the dongle for connecting to Bluetooth. Only to Xbox. So you can plug it into the Xbox and leave it there.

My headset has a wire that plugs into my controller because I'm a neanderthal, and it's just easier :flipoff2:

One less thing to remember to charge

Headsets are a minefield. The only ones I have ever had that were worth a shit, were usually discontinued and replaced by junk. My ancient surround sound Turtle Beach headset was awesome, but finally died. My current Sennheiser headset is pretty nice, but they quit making gaming headsets and spun it off to a brand of cheap chinese crap. And yes, all my shit is wired. The last fucking thing I want is my PC open to whatever Blutooth devices are around and wanting to connect to them all the time. I disable Bluetooth on all my motherboards.

I've only ever gone wired with my pc headsets, an old pair of Sennheisers that my wife destroyed and replaced with the "Hyper X" from somebody, forget who. I also turn the BT off on my motherboard when I built the pc.

When I had to look for replacements for the Sennheisers I was utterly dismayed by them going to cheapo gaming headsets. I was a huge Senn fan boy from the mid '90s when I got my firat pair of them as a gift.

I'm beyond happy with these Artic Pro Wireless headphones.

Edit: it has bluetooth but I've only paired it with my phone since the base station/charger is USB connected to the PC. However, bluetooth works for the mic on my phone so I don't see why they wouldn't worj the same if paired to the PC.

Paranoid much :flipoff2:

How close is everyone that you're worried about them jacking your Bluetooth? My computers don't work for more than 30'.

You'd have to come across someone really interested in your shit anyways to get something connected without actively trying to pair it.

Not so much worried about hackers, more about my earbuds that want to connect to whatever it finds first, PS controllers, Anker speakers, etc. Yeah, I have to turn shit on, but between me, the GF and my son when he is around, it's a pain to get connected sometimes. I usually have to pull out of the driveway to connect to the car as it is "busy" with all sorts of signals from the house and won't connect until I am 30 yards up the road. Overall, I like Bluetooth when it works, but it's a pain when it doesn't.

Is the EPOS stuff junk? I assumed it was decent, it's what Sennheiser named their gaming spinoff company/partner.

I've had a few really nice Sennheiser wired earbuds, still have a pair at the office and keep a pair of their lower end CX Bluetooth earbuds in my back pack. Those CX earbuds are what I've been gaming with.

EPOS can kiss my ass. The nice Sennheiser surround headphones I have now are discontinued and while they work fine, they don't supply the software to support them anymore, so no more surround sound. EPOS basically ignored my emails to support asking if they were going to offer anything since Sennheiser has militantly washed their hands of anything gaming related. So, in my opinion, shitty customer service and they can can all choke on a thousand swastikas.

I settled on LucidSound LS50X. I used it for about an hour and a half last night, just listening to music on YouTube and my audio streaming service. It sounds good, I'm not blown away by the audio quality, I rarely am, but to be fair I'm using the default Windows Sonic, and other than some of the music I was listening to fading between left and right channels, I haven't done any gaming or anything with spatial effects yet. Dolby Atmos compatibility was a selling point for me, then I discovered I have to spend $15 for the privilege and I'm not sure it's worth it.

Decent set of features, they feel like a premium quality product, and look like something an adult would own. They're still listed at $200 or close to it on LucidSound's website and a lot of other places, but they're $75 on Amazon. If I'd paid MSRP for them I'd probably not be too stoked with the audio quality, but for $75 they're pretty good. They are a little heavy, and I've got a big noggin, so they're snug, I'm going to need to stretch them out.

I really haven't had them long enough, or listened to enough variety of sources to give much of a legitimate review. At first blush though, I think I'm going to like them.

I'll probably update this if anyone is interested. I'll probably update this even if you're not interested. :flipoff2:
