Blew the HG on my 455

Torque is useless when it results in shredded tires and zero gain in speed... :flipoff2:

Diesel like torque but it comes with diesel like rpm. Will still be slower than an LS with a turbo.

then theres 1/4 times fast and pass someone on the freeway fast

And the around town grunt.

Depends on what you want. If you don't actually want it to be fast but want it to feel fast, different ways to go about it. An around town cruiser I'd rather have the cubes.

Theres something fun about throwing in 2nd and doing instant burnout off idle..

My 75 swb bbc w ¾ ton axles it funner to drive than the 03 swb 2wd 5.3 we have at work. The 75 launches harder and can burn tire longer, the 454 is stock, .030 over quadrajet and manifolds.

Torque management though right?

Ran many a Pontic engine. Look for Station wagon one pull a 455 out of it. That's how I used to get mine. Get a Better intake. Decent cam and it is a stump puller. Before you get into trouble again, replace the water pump/ timing chain housing new. It also likes timing and quickly. The water pump timeing housing erodes quickly. If you find an original engine, tear it down to to the timing chain. Biggest failure and most common was the nylon cam gear. It would chunk off pieces and clog up the oil pump screen. Since it's summer, make sure to close off the heater core line so it doesn't recirculation the uncooled water.
