Oil field flat bed....
heavy haul flat bed...
Big difference in deck height...
that was in Portland Maine July 15 2019, but you are closeSomewhere in portland yesterday

Let’s say the mtl’s weigh 11k each, D3 is about 16k and the Harley rake, holy shit Batman. The trailer looks to be bent behind the axles. Driver should be shot. Almost 40k plus the trailerOne more for today. From the interwebs, looks a bit overloaded for a single wheel![]()

Driver from our sister company found out the negative results of big dumb loads and not knowing how to read a tape measure. Said he was 14'2" but somehow he hit a 17'8" bridge
Had to go to the scene and it took two of our picker trucks and a winch truck to get this fixed. He hit the bridge at 62 miles an hour and it actually bent the boom of the excavator and destroyed the bridge. Wish I had many pictures of the bridge but it was 2 in the morning and WE HAD to GET OUT BEFORE THE PO PO SHOWED UP
There is no possible way that an excavator on an oil field flat bed is 14' 2". Well maybe if you took the boom and cab off..... Dude either didn't bother measuring or just didn't give a fuck.![]()
I'll bet the excavator itself is 14'2" and someone forgot to add the trailer!
A 160 isn't that tall, unless the boom is up.

OK, guys, I have a BDL coming up possible next week. I want some opinions. I'm looking to haul a 9000 lb. machine on a 7000 lb. trailer. I know allot of guys would do that without a second thought. In this case, I haven't had trailer brakes on this trailer since I got it. I bought it with no wiring. I wired the lights and have used it ever since that way. One time when I was working underneath, I noticed it had electric brakes on one axle. So in preparation for this load next week, I got the brakes working. I didn't have a brake controller, so I wired the brakes to the brake lights. I took it out for a test drive and now when I look at the brake pedal, the tires lock. Of course the trailer is empty now.
Im guessing someone else has wired brakes like this before. Will the brakes not be so touchy when I have a load on the trailer? Do you think the tires can lock with 9000 lbs. on there? Right now it just drags the tires, but if they lock with all that weight, I'm wondering if I will go through the windshield. Lol.
Lots of flaming expected. Maybe some constructive comments would be nice.
You're lucky you didn't blow the brake light fuse. DO NOT run your trailer brakes like that. Buy a fucking controller you cheap bastard.

FIFY
Fucking priceless, i didnt know it was as serious as it was so my first question was can you chain it back down and get the fuck outta there. He couldn't because the excavator was hanging off the trailer
I was 10 minutes from the scene when he sent a text saying cops showed up
Just came across. Video of a car with a stack of pallets going down the road. Silly girl behind the camera says it's the most illegal thing she's ever seen.
I'm thinking to myself, you know, it's really not that bad. Send it.

This is my big dumb load lol. Old Ford was built specifically for pulling these guys around. Machine weighs 145k.
Basically what you did was make it so that the brakes apply 100% when you touch the brake. A controller ramps up the voltage gradually to whatever you preset it to so as to prevent tire lockup.
Buy a brake controller like others have said. That is not something to be a cheap ass about.
I have a cheap ass brake controller, pm me your address and I’ll mail it to you
Or hit your local junkyard up, I have a couple of Tekonsha Sentinel proportional brake controllers that I got at my local junkyard for under $15 each all wired up for our vehicles.

For the cost of replacing that bent axles on that 7k trailer, you could easily rent a 10k for a few days and have enough cash left over to buy lunch.
