Im thinking about getting another pellet rifle. Ive had a ruger air hawk for years. but i broke it a few years back, took it apart and lost parts... I would definitely buy another one, but I wanted to see if theres anything better now. it shoots .177 and i have a couple cans of ammo so thats the size id prefer

I have one of these, wire eating chipmunks at 25yds np. They were $150 at big 5.
Gamo whisper.

I like the .22 air rifles as my favorite pick. The .25 are a little heavy for the spring piston and tend not to be very accurate as the recoil force is so brutal. I have a .25 Gamo and it's a beast for sure, but it's only set up for scope use and it's a lot of work to reload.

The .22 with open sights is so much more fun to use and is a really accurate way to deal with rats.

The .177s are super accurate due to speed, but they just don't have the same put down force as the .22 hollow points.

I just picked up one that looks like an sks from a garage sale. 5 bucks. :flipoff2:

A few years ago I picked up a Ruger .22 air rifle. Got it for 2/3's off sticker price at Academy... well under $100. IIRC it is a 1200 fps .22. I bought it to snipe rabbits that were destroying the garden. Jeezus.. thing is loud! I ended up just used my daughters pink Cricket single shot and subsonic rounds. Nothing is more manly than a little pink & stainless Cricket.

It is going about the same speed as a regular old .22lr after all. Air rifles with built in suppressors are a wonderful thing.
