Stunningly Average
So, since I didn't get any responses on the shop and tools forum here it is again since GCC gets more traffic. I will be ordering this tomorrow since I need to finish up my interrupted projects.
I smoked my bench grinder and need to replace it. I bought this one probably 15-20 or so years ago so I got my money's worth out of it. It's not made anymore so I can't just buy the same one again.
Looking to stay the same size so I can use the wheels etc, so 8" with 5/8" arbor.
Under or around $300 would be nice and in the 1hp range.
looking at this Jet industrial 8". https://www.jettools.com/us/en/p/ibg...grinder/578008
A Baldor would be nice but $1200 is pretty damn steep,
Also I"m going to make a stand for it and my belt sander. I was looking online at various stands and they are from 28-36" tall at the mounting location for the tool. That seems too damn short like I'd be bending over to work at it. I'm no Brimmstone, but 48" seems to be a better height IMO. What heights are have you made your stand to? I'm just using an old steel 17" wheel, some 2x2 tubing and a piece of 1/4" plate to make them.
