Special Council's can be a years long clusterfuck, but IMO this situation warrants one with a specific task of unwinding the illicit deals (if any) and potential conflicts of interests and threats to national security.

I have yet to see a special council do anything but spend millions of dollars to nail some poor secretary for a process crime, like lying to investigators because they couldn't remember a specific date.

Wasn't a special council involved with Nixon? Also. Clinton lost his law license over a special council.
