I dread having to take down some of these oaks. I know it's inevitable as a couple are already pretty much completely rotted out in the middle, but it's going to be a shit ton of work and probably 2 years of firewood from each one.the correct leaf blower is a chain saw
I'm most of the way through a 90 year old maple that was not rotten on the inside.I dread having to take down some of these oaks. IDK, in my world until they want to knock you over two things that are never powerful enough are a leaf blower and a pressure washer. 20 percent more power to me means 20 percent less time and 50 percent more smiles. Once you get used to the 600 you will like the idea of a 10 ft wide swath and 25 ft long path. YMMVHe said for what 99% of homeowners and commercial guys do the 600 is more than enough. Add in the additional $100 and weight too.
I was prepared to get either, since I have a ton of poplar, oak and maple on our property. I can say the 600 will clear an 8 foot swath 20 feet long instantly.
These oaks most likely date back to the 1700's plantation home that used to be be t to where my shop is. Some of the limbs are 36" or bigger in diameter. The trunks are probably 6-7'. And of course they're hollowed out rotten so taking them down will be stupid dangerous.I'm most of the way through a 90 year old maple that was not rotten on the inside.
fucker done plugged up a car drain for the last time.
might as well go all the way.
Keep us posted, I want the 800 but my 600 is still pretty new.Had a bit of an accident with my BR600 and rather than wait for parts my local Deere dealer gave me a better price than the box stores on a BR800. I am in the middle of a big for me mulching project meaning I am having my 16ft utility trailer filled 4ft high every day and spreading it out, The leaf blower works great for leveling it out and moving it under bushes. My 600 struggled with blowing Locust pods out of a row of yuccas, that was my biggest gripe with it. I would guess that the 800 is about 15 percent stronger and that is enough to clean them out without too much fuss. Moving the pods and Oak leaves in the open yard and the power difference was even better. For me this will save a lot of time and I am anxious to see how much better it does with snow. The 600 had a few nozzle options, I need to take a look if they have options for the 800.
Pics please, with something in the pic for size reference. These oaks most likely date back to the 1700's plantation home that used to be be t to where my shop is. I'll have to go park my golf cart in front of it or something, but this is about the biggest at the base. I have a couple others that are probably a bit taller and more massive too.Pics please, with something in the pic for size reference.
Didnt read all pages but soon unless its electric it wont be legal in California.
plz doI'll have to go park my golf cart in front of it or something
Posing with the baddest clapped out Yamaha G1 ou thereplz do
huge trees are neat
they all seem to get cut down fairly regular around here...
I have no plans to cut any of them down until they fall or it otherwise becomes completely necessary. Cutting something completely rotted out like that is sketchy as fuck when they're small....let alone when they're 5' diameter and 100' tall.that's neat
I've got a couple smaller ones that are rotted out in the middle but they're doing fine
kinda cool how they're just a hollow tree
one of them is small enough that I only noticed it when a squirrel ran into the base of the tree and out of a hole up in the canopy
Leave them be, they're new to you, but the rot on/in them sure as shit ain't nowhere near new
I always thought hollow trees was just in cartoons.
You need to build a pit of despair.
I'll have to get pictures of mine, it's way rad lookingI always thought hollow trees was just in cartoons.

Or did you mean hollow tree?
First real snow test this year. 15 degrees out and 4 inches of light powder, no wind. BR800 did it in about half the time as the 600 would have. Still wish it had another 25 percent power though. Next innovation needs to have the blower mechanism itself be able to be rotated so it can be used on right or left side.Keep us posted, I want the 800 but my 600 is still pretty new.
I'm surprised they haven't figured this out yet. My right elbow is fucked and I can only do repetitive motions with it for a few minutes at a time before it hurts too much to continue. I end up having to to the stranger with my left arm and you really can't get the right angle to do a good sweep that way. I'm gonna make some type of lightweight bar that reaches across so you can keep the tube in the right spot while working it with your left arm.First real snow test this year. 15 degrees out and 4 inches of light powder, no wind. I had PB-9010T in my shopping cart ever since I read this post. Nearly 3 years later, I finally pulled the trigger after my baby Husqvarna 125B died one too many times. I just assembled it & idled on my picnic table. It definitely has that threatening idle to it.side note, idle the echo and any other machine side by side. the echo sounds mean as hell. when i first fired mine up buddies at the house and the neighbor thought i was tuning a new bike for the kid
Backpack on backpack blowers (PB-9010 & midget chick)?
That chick will fly
