Fall is hitting the new property and as it turns out the giant 300 year-old oak trees drop a lot a fucking leaves.

I suffered through using one of those interchangeable blowers that swaps on to my weadeater at my old house and kept saying I would pick up a backpack when I found a deal on one...never did.

Instead of buying a used piece of shit on CL and fighting with it for years like I normally do, I'm gonna suck it up and buy something new and nice. Pretty sure it'll get plenty of use here.

Seem like all the pros use orange ones....stihl or Echo. I think I see echo more than anything. I can get Echo or Husqvaran at Lowes and HD and Stihl at TS or try to find a local stihl dealer, but they'll probably be 20% more.

I'm not partial to any of them.

I assume the specs are like air compressors where they pump up the numbers to sound better. What's more important - CFM or MPH? I see some that are 250mph but only 434 cfm while echo has one that's 220mph but 1100 cfm. My though is higher CFM is better and MPH probably doesn't mean as much at those levels? Is it worth $100 or so more for one that/s 220mph/1100cfm vs the cheaper one that's 234mph/756cfm

Also - I see tube throttle and hip throttle. Any preference? I also have a fucked up right arm/elbow so I'll probably have to do the stranger with it if my joints are acting up. So maybe hip throttle would be better in that case?

I'm in the same boat. New house with a ton of trees. Was going between the Sthil BR-450 and BR-600. The 600 was like $75 more so I ended up getting that. I figured if I bought the cheaper one I would be pissed when it didn't have enough power.

We still have a lot of leaves on trees, but the couple times I used it it worked great.

Did landscaping we used stihl and had good luck running them 8hrs a day 5 days a week. On newer models the exhaust screen for emissions would plug up and have to be ripped out. Get the biggest one you can carry comfortably.

Work great for light snow removal and sidewalks.

Not a stihl fan at all but the biggest model they make (BR600?) is retarded how much air it moves. I vote that.
Looks like the BR800 is the biggest. There's an 800-x Magnum and 800 C-E, which is $60 more. Besides the C-E being heavier, I can't tell what the difference is.

The 800 X is $100 more than the $600.

The consensus seems to be stihl here.

The echo PB9010 actually has better specs (1110 cfm vs 912 on the sithl) but I doubt that makes that much difference and I'd rather stick with the best brand vs. the absolute best specs.

Have you thought about a lawn vac instead?
I actually have a pull behind that came with the property. I need to make a chute adapter to use it with the zero turn or get my old simplicity that already has a vac adapter running well enough to use it with that. But I'd still need to blow everything away from the fence lines to suck it up and ther are other places where a vac won't work and a blower will make more sense.

Buy a rake you pussy!! :flipoff2::flipoff2:

I have a few. They suck. :flipoff2:

Just upgraded from the Stihl BR600 to the BR800. Huge difference when blowing wet leaves or big piles. Not even in the same class.

The BR800 is much more comfortable to use for longer periods of time even though it weighs more.

The first this to know is the big box brands are not the same quality inside as the factory item, go weigh one from depot then from the factory store....
Anythig can be made cheaper inside and look the same... yes we will fight about this all day here...

most out here are also orange ,I am still running a pb400 that might be as old as you:laughing:
Look @ decibel level and cfm/mph and turbine size, think turbo, think about full pull engine speed NOT outta the hole spool.
Big turbine housing, quiet exh. and then weight.

Edit
Get the big ass unit, front (on yer back) starting seems a waste at 2# and $60 but the 3 times it gets used will be great.
btw
I burn one gallon a day, on a leaf season day.
so yea light and powerful:beer:

Do you have the X or the CE? Apparently the difference is the CE has some easy start thing that lets you start it while wearing it. Weighs 2lbs more and costs an extra $60.

It has the front pull start. I’ve only used that once. It worked fine but not on my list of necessities.

It only takes one tank of fuel (2 for the 600) to do my whole yard. I start it up before I put it on and shut it off when I’m done. The one time I had to restart it I accidentally shut it off when I locked the throttle.

I have a Stihl BR600. I wanted the 800 but the Stihl guy (whom I've known forever) said it was overkill for what I need. He's been on point for the rest of my wants and needs.

I've been running the br700 for 5ish years...

Right now,, Echo makes the hands down baddest blower out there. I just got mine 2 or so weeks ago and it's puts the stihl to shame.

I mostly use my blower to clean shop and a large concrete pad, nearly every morning. If anyone comes out with a more powerful blower I'll buy it.

I was looking into walk behind blowers, and the echo had then all beat as well

I have whatever the biggest stihl one they made like 6 years ago. I can stand back far enough to see my roof and blow all the leaves off the back of the house without moving. Things push a crazy amount of air.

Stihl, husky, echo... whatever your local shop sells and stocks parts for. Just buy the biggest one you can justify

Meh. I've got the BR200. Moves just enough air for me.

When you get into the big boys, you have to think about your terrain. I have a LOT of aggregate driveway. The big boys blow hard enough to move the rocks as well. The 200 takes the leaves right up off the rocks, leaving them behind.

The echo is better than the specs claim. It puts stihl to shame

I believe the most telling metric they are rated on is nuetons

I have a Stihl BR 700 and have been pleased with it. A little on the heavy side but comfortable once I get it on my back. It will blow #4 gravel uphill off my concrete back into the driveway and has no issues with sweet gum balls and other yard debris.

I was thinkin Olivia....
I want to see 2" 12x12 paver moved around....

I bought a BR450 a couple years ago. According to guys who have used them in the field it is underrated and blows/scours harder than the 600. It has no problem breaking up mats off wet decomposing leaves that have been there a long time.

The biggest reason I wanted the 2-stroke unit is the 600 I demo’d had a low droning tone that gave me a headache, even wearing earmuffs. It was more a resonance thing than a noise level, I just couldn’t stand it.

Also, the Stihl 4 mix engines have plastic cams, which doesn’t sit well with me. All of my pro level 2-stroke stuff I’ve bought from them has been excellent.

years ago I went to the saw (chainsaw) shop and told em I wanted a blower that would almost but not quite blow the shingles off the roof.. they sold me the 2nd biggest Husqvarna made at the time.. its a older model now.. not sold anymore/replaced by something else. No complaints, always performs, glad I spent the money. Used it for 2 1/2 hours straight today.. blew off the roof, cleaned the gutters, then the whole yard. worked from the top down.

Get the biggest stihl/echo/redmax that you can afford. Brand doesn’t matter a whole lot between the three once you get into the commercial stuff. I have a PB770T echo and it’s a fawking hawse. Would buy again.

Ive had a BR600 for probably 10 years. When I was shopping I went to some landscape forums and they raved more abiout the Redmax than the BR600. Redmax dealer was far away, 2 Stihl dealers were close. Ive been happy with the 600 but I don't believe there is such a thing as too powerful of a blower, they do have throttle control for when you don't need all the power. If I could find someone to give me a good price for the 600 I would go for the 800. When on the landscape forums they talked a lot about the 4mix engines getting gummed up with carbon. The cure was Amsoil Saber at 100 to 1. I a not that brave but have had no issues with the Saber oil at 75 to 1.

Surprised there is not a pic of a midget chick in a backpack yet.

Buy the biggest major brand your bitch tits can carry and have fun. Snow removal is fucking great fun with a dog as well. :lmao: My black dog looks like he hung out with Escobar for a night and I am using an OLD echo hand held one. Finally starting to die. Looking for a used backpack major brand.
