Probably the dumb question of the week and it isn't even Tuesday!

I have a set of Diamond housings that I am just starting to get around to putting together.

When Brian sent the front, it came with a stud kit and a couple seals (TCM 128203TC-BX) The rear didn't come with anything. Not sure if that was an accident or what.

I could swear I remember reading something at the old place the Diamond used special/different/proprietary seals and that grabbing some EcoSeals from Marlin wouldn't work out. It has been years though so I could, am probably am, misremembering but just want to confirm either way before I get into it OR put the wrong seals in and have to tear apart later.

I have the two that he sent with the front housing like I said but obviously to put together two completes front and rear I will need 3 more pairs.

If you have a Diamond, what did you use? Inside and outside the same correct?

YES, I have reached out to them. Two emails over 3 weeks have went unanswered. Sucks because I have spent over 10k with them over the past 14 months.

I got nothing...
But their customer service is not working to well it seems.

Last I remember they touted running 4 seals in the front.

Rear is full float with bolt on spindles? I think that's the only set up that would need inner seals.

Yeah, both but honestly have never put together a FF before but I assuming 2 per side

I need to just start tearing into it but just thought someone may know so I can get them ordered. FROR isn't really helping out so figured I would try there.

What kind of spindles does the FF housing use? The fzj80 FF have a seal that goes on the inner outer edge of the spindle, but most people don't even run them and let the gear lube lube the bearings instead of grease. The only seal is the hub housing seal. Obviously can't do that if you have a seal by the diff.

On my FF Diamond rear with chevy outers I am running Seals-It economy seals inside the axle tubes at the diff and Chevy seals on the flange behind the spindle. FWIW they don't work well, it could very well be an install issue on my part but they don't last more than a few months or 750ish miles before they leak (I could have a vent issue, too). I got my axle used so Brian was not willing to provide support on what seals I should run unless I found the original purchaser. I took a bunch of dimensions and scoured the seal catalog and didn't find anything that was a better fit than these universal bastards.

Unrelated to the leaking (either side) I think I have a bent axle tube or the flange the spindle mounts to is not square and causing a binding issue. It eats seals/wheel bearings consistently on one side. I also broke a shaft (19 spl) and had issues with the drive flange popping out on that side. In my case I am only running an 8" third. I'm chucking this housing in the trash and going back to a factory housing/shafts.

Brian wouldn’t tell you what seals his housing used? There’s a big reason to not run a Diamond housing.

Yeah, that is odd that he woulnd't tell you. I am pretty sure he logs everything about each housing for future reference.

I have been happy with FROR and Brain and April along the way. Brain sat on the phone with me and held my hand through everything, multiple times, explaining to me what I didn't know, etc.

Not super happy that I cannot get an email answered in almost a month now after a resend in case they missed it for such a routine and easy question. BUT I also don't know what is happening in his world. Maybe Covid or something else has entered the chat and they are not at full strength.

My brother got this response after calling them out.

Honestly, I don't pretend to know Brian other than the combined 1.5 hours over a few time talking to him on the phone.

I can't see him refusing to give out info like that either.

Guy was super nice, told me what products of his to buy and which not to and didn't try to oversell me at all. I can see him going to war over a $6 seal.

Not calling the above poster a liar but more likely a miscommunication somewhere.

According to Aisin's post above, they are just using off the shelf Toyota seals so I will go to Marlins and grab some I guess since its just a couple miles from my house.

I'm not trying to start any drama and would prefer to be left out of any social media squabbles. It may very well have been a miscommunication🤷‍♂️

Brian told me he wasn't able able to provide any info unless I had the original purchaser's info. I bought the axle from the second owner and didn't have that info.

It is what it is. I'm moving on to a different platform for various reasons.

Lose/lose.

Likely diamond has changed seals over the years and couldn’t provide 100% guarantee of correct part number w/o referencing the original axle build.

Likely if he provided the wrong seal number, some people would be just as upset for that.

Been trying to seals for my axle for years - same situation with different axle builder. Is what it is. Definitely would like a “it could be one of these 10 possibilities, but can’t guarantee,” option.

Mine is Toyota solid axle front spindles/hubs

I am not saying you were starting anything. I don't think that you were.

I think what Brain is saying makes sense in that context. What he told me was that he could always look up my housings by an order number or my name and have all the specs on it regardless of who owned it. It makes sense that if you didn't have those pieces of info, there isn't much for either of you to go on.

Brian seems like a great guy is all I am saying. Its like when I hear people say something negative about Marlin personally (other than he never has shit in stock). I have been around Marlin enough to know that is bullshit. Marlin is flat out the nicest man you could ever meet. That is all I was saying.

Not a knock on you at all. In fact, I would be frustrated if I were you as well and you didn't say anything out of line at all.
