5-lug looks like an 8.8 out of a 90s F150 or Bronco

8-lug could be an HO52 or 72? I can't really tell and I haven't seen those axles enough to know for sure?

The closed knuckle D44 is probably out of an IH based on the absurd steering arms?

I think the 8.8 has the wrong oriented shock mount for F-series, and maybe a small bolt pattern. Ranger/Explorer?

H072 has a rear cover that unbolts. Maybe IH RA20?

I have had both an older dodge D44 and D70 front. Only the 70 was rear steer. Shock tangs look too long for dodge also. Think you might be on the right track with IH. Look for a BOM?

Ranger/Explorer have the driver's shock aft of axle and the pass shock forward. 97-04 F-series is the same. 80-96 has both shocks forward of axle.

Edit: You're right and I misidentified it. And looking further maybe the drain plug is useful. I'm pretty sure the 8.8 has the plug above the web so maybe it's a 7.5?

I would have sworn most IH stuff is/was forward swing but IH is the only one I know who uses a really long steering arm.

Look for a BOM?
Craigslist shit with a seller that doesn't know car stuff.
 
The easiest way to tell a 052/072 is if it has the load bolt. But as said they have a removeable cover.

Also appears to have coined wheel hubs.
Id bet wetf it is its got lh studs on one side

I know the 87-97 F-series best. The driver shock bracket is wrong for that. I thought newer f-series was disc.

Yes it is. I simply made a mistake when initially looking at it.

Not the first few years, 97-99ish, maybe as late as 03/04, kept drums.

It's definitely either Ranger or 10th gen F150. Can't easily tell without the cover or width. Neither of which I'm interested in.
At this point I'm pretty sure it's an RA15 or RA20 and closed knuckle LP D70 front out of a 1-ton IH. Neither of which is particularly useful to me since I don't have a classic 1-ton truck sitting around needing an axle pair.

I was really hoping the RA15/20 was actually a HO72 but it's not. The RA15 and 20 sound like decent axles in their own right but the complete lack of parts let alone aftermarket and tiny production volume make them useless for anything other than restoring an IH truck.

Not all of them had the Load Bolt. Typically the HO52 spec'd axles didn't have it, and it was the HO72s that did. The bolt on cover is a nice feature on them too because its symetrical from both sides of the housing, and top to bottom giving multiple ways the third can be mounted. The front HO72 I built, the third is technically mounted where the cover was regarding its original application. It gave me more long tube on the passenger's side that way putting the splice weld closer to the knuckle.
