autocad to searchable .pdf

i have a project where drawing pdfs have to be searchable. can someone explain to me in simple terms what the hell this shx stuff means. i just need to know what font to use so i dont have to deal with this in the future. thanks

can you not print it and select pdf as the printer? seems like that makes other documents still searchable once in pdf
 
I agree with above. Just plot it to .pdf. If it doesn't come out searchable, use the OCR function in BlueBeam. It wont matter what font you use.

based my limited understanding of autocad and the link i posted, certains fonts or text or something renders to an image instead of a text when you convert to .pdf

tried using the OCR function in adobe 9, but no dice. another engineer here was able to use his adobe. the annoying this is the text is searchable if you include the comments, but the customer is not accepting that.
