Been seeing this alot this past year. My gf's plate is now slowly peeling off. Is this a PA thing or all over? Never had a plate that peeled.

Definitely not here... or anywhere around the south... or out west. Never seen that before.

I'm guessing they got a bad batch of paint?

CA Plates are still embossed The legacy (Black Plates) they are re issuing are all painted.

AZ has gone more basic.

Used to get a matching backup if you got anything custom. Now it's only the 1 that's required.

And it's not stamped/raised numbers anymore, just flat and printed?

Except Classic Plates (>25 years), those were still extra thick and heavy copper a couple years ago.

That's neat. At least the plate is still stamped so it can be read. Roughly 10 years ago ours switched from the stamped style to just the plain painted/laminated ones. How long did it take before it started peeling?

I'm pretty sure our plates are still made by inmates at a local prison.

isnt there a RCW somewhere that in order to take a picture of a place, you have to put a finger or thumb in the way to keep it super secret?
Or is that just a Craigslist RCW?

FWIW that plate looks fake as the dashboard on a powerwheels automobile

The VA plate on my boat trailer is doing that. I might finally have to register it.

Same thing happened here (ontario, canada).

Just went in and they replaced them at no charge. Some kind of fuckup in production.

WV plates are the same way. Have seen more than a few with peeling paint like that or with the paint completely gone. None of mine have ever done it though, been running the same plates on the DD for 10 years now.

But anybody who's ever scraped a PA inspection sticker knows they are a PITA! WV's come right off!

That covering the plate thing is paranoia that somehow with the full plate someone will find you, rape your wife and steal your shit.

Peeling?

I’ve seen them fade away to completely nothing but never seen one slip like the op.
Yeah, I'll see if i have one on something in the junkyard next time Im out there. Its like they wrapped the painted plate with a clear wrap, and the wrap peels off.

are you 4 years late on registration? :lmao:
They did away with registration stickers a while back. We have to pay online and print out registration cards ourselves.

Car in picture is just an example I got off google.

welcome to new yuck 10.years ago
ny blamed 3m
got new vendor
and they still peel.
They must have hired the guys in charge of Toyota's frame procurement.

Speaking of which, anyone want to track down Massachusetts 717-C13?

I need to find him and buy his shit.

shit, 1-4 year expired registration is pretty common here. see it all the time.

Yawp. PLates one my truck are like that. I have gorilla tape holding them on.

mn plates do that around the bolt holes
they just force you to buy new plates every 7yr
they also don't got the numbers stamped into them any more

Being a pa inspection mechanic.... I've never seen that... Chipping or flaking on older plates? Every day.... Pealing though? That's new to me... Lol

Edit:....... Did anyone else notice the reflection? Can't tell if it's a white dude in a black ski mask, or a black dude with insanely light colored lips .....

Back in 2003 i moved to indiana so my ex could go to college. They gave me a flat plastic plate that had a sticker for everything.
