Might as well post this now and start scoping out stuff.

Headed to Destin Florida in April 25’. Wife wanted to go back to her home state this year and give the west a break.

Florida has never piqued my interest. Anything a must see?
 
Book a fishing charter. Water temp isn't too high in April so should have good activity. Snooker is my preferred inland fish but mangroves are fun and good eating.

Not a fan of fishing. I was going to book a hog hunt.
 
Ended up there for a week when a job site wasn't as ready as the super running it said it was. I generally don't like the beach, but damn if I didn't enjoy drinking beer on that one. Great weather and the sand there is like walking on baby powder. That's all we really did that week though so not much to suggest unfortunately.
 
Yeah, I’m not good at just sitting around. This one is going to be a huge test of my patience.

Maybe I’ll buy a couple books to read or something.

You're not that far from Pensacola, there's all kinds of shit to go see there including the Navy Aviation museum.

The museum is worth going. Not too far from Foley Al, Lots of tourists stuff there. Lamberts Cafe is fun.

See how many surf styles and waffle houses you can visit in a week. Probably won't be able to get them all. :laughing:
 
Watch the F22s do unrestricted climbs out of the destin airport. Always cool to see.

Spend a day or 2 at crab island.
 
you would be surprised how a few chicks in skimpy cloths will change your mind about relaxing on the beach. :grinpimp::grinpimp::beer::beer::beer::beer: and maybe a tasty beverage too.

yes go to the navy base. always cool stuff there.

There’s a place not far from Destin called Bay Town Wharf. Pretty cool place to walk around. Lots of restaurants and bars. The harbor walk is the main attraction there. I like to sit at Harry Ts or Margaritaville and watch the yachts go by. It’s right at the entrance to the harbor, so they all go by real close. Sometimes you even see the odd topless sun worshiper on the front of a yacht 50 feet away. That really gets the crowd cheering. lol.

Maquires is great for steak. Boshamp’s is good food/drinks.

We found the best hotel for the money is “Inn on Destin Harbor”. If you go there, get a harbor view room.

This can not be overstated.



Also, I forgot to mention, there is a gun shop across the street from “Inn on Destin harbor” about 1/4 mile east. It’s hard to find, but very cool. Run by ex green berat types. I for get the name. They run all kinds of shooting and combat classes. I’ve never done one, but I always threaten to.
 
If the traffic is that bad I’m walking to the beach every day and that’s it. I don’t like traffic…or humans that much.
