I have a buddy with an '89 Toyota truck with 5 speed, 3 slow and 4x4. The truck only has like 150k miles and is in excellent condition other than issues with the computer/O2 wires. The O2 wires got loose and the exhaust melted them and killed the computer. He has since swapped out the computer, the wiring and the O2 sensors, but it still throws a CEL regarding O2 sensor.

He is pretty mechanical and says he replaced ALL the wires, computer and sensors.

Is there anything 'special' about the O2 wires? perhaps a certain resistance or something?

I am pretty sure O2 wires are shielded. If he replaced the wiring, did he use a shield? Also, if it’s a BOSCH O2, throw it in the trash. Denso don’t like BOSCH.
hope that helps

I'm kinda in the same boat, the connector from the o2 sensor to the wiring harness broke off and I just used a butt connector to hook it back up. don't really know if that will work or not:homer:
