What's new

Anyone want to buy a golf course?

All you guys talking about:
"Mow it down and build McMansions"
"Turn it into an R/C Park"
"MX tracks"

First off, I'm guessing the Locals would be a solid "Fuck No"
Secondly, I'm sorry, but I don't think people build Golf Courses to "not make money"
It's apparently survived as a Golf Course since at least 1975
Has there been a shift in demographics? Lack of upkeep that has affected participation?
What is the deal with the massive increase in asking price from 2020 to now? What about the massive increase in Tax Assessment I mentioned earlier?
A lot of questions
Maybe the Owner IS hoping for some McMansion Developer to swoop in and fuck the town up
<shrug>

The only thing I would maintain is the bar/liquor license. The rest would become my “Fuck you, I’m rich and don’t give a fuck” property after winning the mega lotto :grinpimp:

I don't see how golf is profitable. Yeah, it's expensive to play until you start doing the math of how many golfers you can get in on a day vs. the cost of the land, the incredible amount of maintenance, etc.
Doubt ID has as long a season as the front range
but

8 hrs per day (1st round at 7, last at 3 - Loveland allows tee off until 6pm)
X
10 rounds per hour (high end expensive courses may only see 6 rounds per)
X
4 golfers
X
$50 each (green fees only, Loveland prices)
= $16,000.00 per day
X
30 days per month
=$480k per month

zero other income streams included. Public courses have lower fees as they do not have to typically factor land acquisition cost.

There is a course within 20 miles of me where a round is in excess of $200 each just for greens fees. Beers, balls, cart, food, tips for the beer gal and most foursomes are north of $1500.00 (before bets) Now crank through 8 sets per hour for 8 or 10 hours, 30 days a month, a solid 8 months of the year. Even writing the other 4 months off to weather, maintenance, non playable conditions and you are generating some serious income

Golf courses are like skiing - the workers want to be there for the benefit (free golf, free skiing), same with the greens keepers, even the hospitality.

My father (and by extension eventually myself) belonged to a private club most of his business life and into retirement. Business conducted on the course and in the bar paid for the not insubstantial fees. The hospitality side of the club made as much as the green fees generated.

Local club, small town, I would expect a wedding per weekend from Spring to Fall and with correct management, catering and bar are decent cash cows.

Even if I had $18 large for a vanity project I would not want the problems associated with a golf course. Or the members. Or the players.

You don't get to post any more until after your 18th birthday.:flipoff2:
I've been doing this shit since long before my 18th birthday. Started playing with hobby grade rc cars in '86 and I'm still doing it. Headed to cedar city for nationals next month.
