What's new

Anyone up for the badlands IN on sunday or monday?

Back in the day when i was around there it was leaning more towards bikes/quads than trucks '05ish

The owner built a moon buggy type crawler so it got him some clout but the park wasnt anything super special.

Got to buy/have a flag
Even though they had a giant pile of discarded axles, you have to buy over the counter new or we dont have it

Been going there since 02, it's still a solid place to go for a fun day trip. Yes it'd changed especially after Troy passed, but i still try and get there for a day trip at least once a year. There's enough rock in the quarry to play around on for a few hours at any vehicle level, you have some sand, and still have a halfway decent trail system. If you have any of the newer uber capable SXS's, I'm sure it gets boring fast. I can still have just as good a time in my built 80 as my stock bronco.

And yes, somehow the map has gotten even worse, but to be honest, the core base of SXS's done need them.

Maybe another weekend for me.

I've heard it's crowded and lots of new sxs people. Not expecting smorr but it's now the closest I've got and only potential day trip here. I'll report back🫡

Is it that bad? Videos look ok but I guess it's all about the crowd

have only made it over there once so far this year and would be up for a trip on Monday if I didn't have a couple of work things that I can't get out of. Sunday may be crowded, they are having a big bonfire and band tonight, be lots of hungover sxs riders tomorrow. be sure to leave any alcohol in the truck, they do cooler and vehicle inspection now before you can get out onto the trails. lots of rookie sxs drivers in rentals running around there. quarry is still good, but they let sxs's back there now so it can get crowded from time to time. Still a few scenic trails on the back side of the quarry that aren't overrun too bad by sxs's. some trail changes for the good and some for the bad, lots that used to be truck sized that are now only trimmed enough for sxs's.

Quarry on a nice quiet day back in the spring of 15

Badlands is pretty flat. There's some pretty gnarly rock crawls you can get into. There's no hills longer than ~ 100 foot. I'll try to find some pics or videos from when I went last year. I was able to break a front axle shaft and bend a d30 carrier.

For the beer or booze, just keep it out of the cooler on your way in. I had several hidden throughout my jeep and as soon as I was away from the gate they went back into the cooler. Just don't be "that guy" and you'll be fine.

Is Redbird still open? Lotta mud when I was there back in the day. Badlands changed a lot when the owners from paragon took over. It looked like they took a bulldozer down orange trail.
Yes, it's still open. There is a sister park to it called interlake closer to Evansville too

Are the tubes still there?

Are the tubes still there?

Tubes are still open, but you have to exit the creek trail and go back down into the creek at the top end of the tubes to get into them, they have also concreted the exit and mostly filled in the exit pools, wasn't more than about 18" of water in the exit pools this past spring.

Internet picture, don't have any new pictures of my ride at the tubes

No videos of me here. I was on 31s and open f/r so it's not really exciting for others. I had a blast though and was able to do several smaller rock climbs until I broke.

Awesome thanks, I'll be there in the morning to check it out. Hopefully decent, the cliffs closing down really messed up my weekend fun lol

If you like it there, I'm always down for a meet up next year. I hope to be racing trec there.

Completely forgot about redbird.

I drug and candy cained a rear driveline there.

Somewhere in a pile of forgoten shit is a mini cam tape of "wheelin" at both those places.

I went to a labor day weekend ride that started at Rockport off-road park near st.louis and ended at the cliffs years ago. I still have the 9k pound warn winch I won that weekend

The Land of Lincoln tour! Pretty sure I still have the event T shirts from both of those, and the old Top Shop events we competed in at Rockport. Blast from the past for sure.

Went to Top Shop the year it was in Hannibal after Wombles got screwed out of the leased land at Rockport, was a good time. Hannibal Rocks was a bit small, but still a good time and was close.
