Seems like you can get this toolbox for $80-100 from a bunch of different places with various kits to fit various models.

Anyone have one? Are they decent for what they are or are they garbage that I'm gonna need to fiddle with every time I try and make the lid close?

I don't care about the hinged mounting kit and make some brackets to hard mount it and call that good.

I'm not gonna throw anything of serious heft in it, just a bunch of ratchet straps and a jug of oil.

Got a set in my pickup. Bought them 2 years ago;, held up ok so far. I use them for chain, jumper cables etc. The latch mechanisms have worked ok for me but don't seem exactly heavy duty. I don't open mine very often

Had some for a while. They’re ok, but kind of small. The lids on mine started leaking over time. I tried keeping tools in them and the brackets didn’t like bouncing around with weight on them.

Had one in the wife's pickup. Was okay. Should be fine for what you want out of it.

Still have it sitting in my shop. Was on a 2017 dodge. Driver side. Want to buy it?

Want to buy it?
I wasn't planning on buying one this week, I just wanted to know if they were shit or not. Still haven't decided if I want a wheel well box or to pony up for one of the fancy aluminum bed side boxes.

How much am I gonna be saving over new?

I'd let it go for $50 and ibb relay from here to there. Haven't really thought about that box in ages. Just sits in a corner of the barn area of my shop building.

They aren't built like a real metal box, cause plastic. But they are handy.

I have one in my truck, they are alright as long as you don't go to heavy like hitches and such. If it gets to heavy, the box will not latch into the locked position and start swinging around when you don't want it to as well as the top will not close at all.

It pretty much holds straps, rope, bungies and some small hand tools, mainly becomes a garbage collector as time goes on and I have used it less and less.

The one nice thing is it does work well with my canopy I always have on but sucks because I cant really throw my hitch in it as I wanted when I bought it.

I hate a standard truck box, just turn i to a catch all for me and they are ugly. I have one of those for my straps and love it. I need to get another for the passenger side.

Give me a few days to come to terms with the fact that I'm not going to pony up for a side box.

Have one in the alumaduty. I got it for $11 with my “ford points.”

Great for straps as people have said.

Yeah this. But also if I don’t have one the catch all becomes behind the seat or the back seat.

These plastic ones are ok but not great if you’re someone who is rough on things or has heavy metal stuff to put in there. I also put the corner of a pallet through them a few times, they usually extend the wheel well into cargo space area
