I have a job coming up at Maglia dam next month and was wondering what the water level was at?

Anyone nearby willing to do a drive by and snag a few pics for me in the next week or so?

Can pay in beer when I'm up there :)

Maglia dam, at skyway and dogtown rd.

They are talking of raising it so we are going to be mapping the area near the damn and I want to make sure the thing isn't nearly dry lol.

And thanks for tagging him. I couldn't remember his username lol

Magalia dam? Hard to miss :flipoff2:

Drive near it every day. I'll try to remember to snag a few pics tomorrow.

Text me to remind me and I can just text the pics back.

Well, I'm offended now that you forgot me

Raising the height? That's interesting because years ago they decided it wasn't safe to be "full" and lowered the water level ~30'. Raising the dam it's self would be quite the feat for the budget that this area has.

Is this the same body of government that narrowed the main escape route out of town ?

Or at the state level ?

What do they call the upper dam?

It failed an inspection post-fire iirc.

We are like a 3rd layer sub under another local land survey company, but yeah I think it's a private water district. This is planning study from what I am gathering to see what it would take.

I would, but really only pretend to be an asshole online.

plus, I'm WAY to fucking lazy to go through all that:laughing:

Much more than they (PID) would be willing to spend.

But its about what I would expect as if there was a path to take to get more capacity it would have been done 50 years ago when I lived in Pair Of Dice.

Had no effect on evacuations, Skyway is 4 lanes below Pearson. Which is where the bottle neck is anyway. Having 2 4 lane roads feeding 1 4 lane road doesn't help anything.

Never heard that?

They did add a little check dam type thing just above the inlet. I guess the idea was to have a way to bypass the reservoir if it was contaminated by a vehicle wreck.

It failed an inspection post-fire iirc.

Interesting, I'm guessing it would be more of a reinforcement than actually raising the top, but who knows.

Maybe they'll just do a slurry wall like they've been doing on all the levees in the valley.

There are two reservoirs and two dams in the system. One at paradise lake, then the skyway dam at the lower reservoir.

I thought I had read that it is a raise, re-enforce, widen type deal.

From what I read it’s a required structural upgrade and not a matter of capacity. They have been trying to “shop” the water post-fire, but I think that was squashed.

I'm familiar with the paradise lake dam, just never heard it called the "upper dam"

Interesting, that will be quite the project for that little dam. Especially once you had in traffic re routing.

The spillway elevation on Magalia reservoir is 2225.8' due to earthquake concerns we are mandated to keep the water level below 2200'. Currently the level is around 2196', if I remember correctly.

Paradise Irrigation District was able to get a grant from FEMA to look into what is the best option to repair or replace the dam. Then based on that option develop a set of plans and specs to have a shovel ready project. With the plans done it is that much easier to get other grants for the fix.

Cool.

Anyone know how deep it is?

Oh, that's what I'm gonna have to map. Lol

thanks for the info guys.
