My father in law decided to make a golf ball launcher for his new AK

He has a star crimp blank making die, but we are having trouble finding blanks to get a "starting point" for a load..,.should say NOT grenade launching blanks...

Anyone have one theyd be willing to check a powder charge on?

Are blanks that sensitive? I figured you could compression load a blank and let it rip because there would be little to no pressure without a projectile?

Not really, but still nice to have a starting point...figure if nothing else, start with what a 5.56 blank has and adjust from there. Most all use pistol or shotgun powder, have not found any filler in the 5.56 ones we've checked. My only concern is that too light of a load might lead to a detonation rather than a burn...might be overly paranoid, but better safe than blown up a gun.

I’d say that the charge matters because the loaded golf ball launcher = barrel obstruction. I’ve never loaded blanks so I’m ignorant.

I got no real world experience lobbin golfballs...

Read the first line again:grinpimp:

Fwiw
Inna 5.56 semi/auto
We had to attach an adapter that made backpressure, to cycle the bolt.
This is not the same as lobbing a golf ball.
Maybe start at 1/4 load and work up?
As you are adding how many grains of projectile to the mix.
Ymmv

Ok peanut gallery, you read line #1 RIGHT :flipoff2:

See if this loads...my kid lobbing golfball at a dead propane can...
