There's a halal butcher on the way to my buddy's house that advertises camel among other things.

We're gonna get some and stick it in his smoker. We're shooting for something with a ton of fat on it that we can melt in the smoker, basically like brisket Anyone know what kind of cut we want to ask for?

While in Saudi Arabia I had a camel stroganoff type dish. It was delicious. No clue which specific part I was eating but it was like a lean roast beef.

I need to find it, but there was a recipe in my grandmother’s stash for stuffed double hump camel. :lmao::homer:

Camel cooks (and tastes) like a very (VERY) lean beef. Cuts to use are the same cuts you’d ask for with beef, but realize you’re going to have to change your cooking style due to the leanness of the meat (slow cooking, less cooking, add fats etc….).

The place that was advertising it needed to special order it and wanted a boatload of money so unless something else comes up we won't be smoking camel anytime soon.
