I mopped the floors, and then sat on my ass.
Need to change oil on 06 TJ and replace rear-axle bearings and wheel cylinders on the 04TJ. Hoping I installed a lube-locker on the 04 TJ...

I figured out that the jetta's #3 rod bearing is "about ready to settle down"
and well, that just ain't for me

journal is .002-.005" undersize now (less metal at tdc of the journal, of course)
I'm thinking about giving it the emory cloth and filing a little off the rod cap to tighten it up with used bearings
Ain't paying to get a crank ground when I have a bunch of them, so since the motor would have to come apart a bunch further... I'm not seeing a downside.
 
Just finished building a spare sickle for the combine, went to auction and bought a workbench, came back and took bean platform off the combine and put corn head on. Oiled chains on corn head, topped off the gearboxes and lowered the snouts to try and shell corn tomorrow. Got home around 3 and been on here ever since :smokin:
 
Not nearly as much as I intended.

Beat myself up for being lazy when I come back into the house and loom at the list
 
Spent half the day doing dishes and laundry.

Pulled my tent trailer from one patch of weeds in the yard, to a slightly smaller patch of weeds.

About time to crack a beer and go do some reloading.

how many miles are these motors of yours lasting?
 
Did fuck all after dropping off the grand baby. Well until about 330. Then poked around the yard, put the new sending unit in the 80' Cherokee. Took it for a burn. Much improvement.

Old sending unit the sock/filter was nylon and shot, it was folding up against the end of the pick-up tube I think. Inline filters were dirty too, cleaned them.

Orange fines....same color as old sock/filter.

Need lots more run time. Came home due to wicked knocking under back end.

Looking around, realized there are no more bushings in the shocks.

Currently reading up on cleaning/repairing the e brake pedal assembly. Goes to floor, doesn't return, brakes don't hold.

you use your vise's jaws to support the file so the edges don't get bevelled as bad
works better with bigger straighter soft jaws, but who doesn't like bigger softer straighter things

course I fuckin filed too much off
ah well, gotta think on what I want to do now
motor might be coming out, or it might get a mismatched rod cap, or I might cut a shim
 
Didn't you say the journal was egged? Why not take some off the high spot to get it closer to round and also smaller overall?
 
I got up & went to lunch with the wife, grab some bolts from the Ace, put a belt on my mower and cut some grass (although it looks kinda shitty, we’ve had a lot of rain and it was really high & it’s really wet to mow)I have a dead tree the needs to come down & I went ahead and cut it down (but didn’t cut it up yet). If I didn’t do it now, I was going to move into overthinking paralysis, so down it came.

A little afternoon delight with the bride & a nap.

That’s a damn good day, but I do have a headache that would kill a lesser man though:
