I know a guy with a 7 figure Wells Fargo account. Moved and he changed his address with the bank. Months later he checks and his account is closed. No $ to be located. Due to lack of activity they closed his account and mailed a physical check to his old address! And his new address was on the account. Took over 2 months for them to open an account and put his $ back in it. In the meantime his SS checks all were getting returned to the SS office. Because it was the government it took him 6 months to sort that out…. So there was activity. Monthly ss checks going inHate Wells Fargo with unbridled passion, and that's a lot of passion. Who hires for that stupid institution, complete idiots?

Had them in my early 20s. Checking was setup to draw from savings if there was an overdraft situation and savings was setup to draw from a joint account with my dad if that overdrafted for any reason. Forget why, but they tried to charge me like $300 in overdraft fees despite all 3 accounts having money in them. I go to the branch in person and the manager tells me it shouldn't have overdrafted but they're not going to remove the fees unless I upgrade my account.Hate Wells Fargo with unbridled passion, and that's a lot of passion. Oh ok, then give me every fucking penny in both those accounts right now and close them. I also recorded this conversation so I'll see your in court about the overdraft fees. Suddenly he can remove them and is begging me not to close my accounts. Nope, too late. Closed both and went over to a local bank. Came back later that day with my dad, closed the joint account and his accounts and moved them to the same local bank.
I remember what it was now, direct deposit and autodraft shit both went through at midnight and they intentionally processed the autodraft before the deposit and charged me instead of pulling from the savings. It's been too long for me to recollect but, i had something of that exact nature happen when i was with them (in my early 20s) and i was shocked by the ineptitude of each and every employee in that damn bank. They frankly didn't know how to execute anything
Luckily, it was a backup account i set up for my girlfriend and i closed that shit out within a couple weeks iirc. My gawd were those people (and their banking policies) some total bullhonk.
To this day i recall how absolutely absurd some of the hoops were that you had to jump through to do the simplest of things...
A lot of them are using stolen SS numbers. Juan Gonzalez is Mark Johnson on his paperwork.
It kind of is, though. No it's not.

Cash is no longer king. Some places force you to a)buy a smart phone and b)download an app from a private company and c)use that app to pay.
You with a flip phone and cash in hand, or even credit card, can't get in.
