Gone crazy
Looking for a emergency type call button for my elderly mother, like the fell down amd cant get up type but that would send a text or call or something to my phone, not to some call center.
I find lots of options but as always im sure there is several here who have dealt with and have better experiences that i trust. So anybody recommend a brand or type?

Will she wear it 100% of the time? Any loss of cognition that could leave her forgetting it?

They only work while on… my grandmother was behind the TV on the floor a full day. She took it off regularly

Smart watch with a plan and rapid dial or text set up?

Yes she wears one now at the senior living where she is, it calls for the staff there. She will be moving into my house with daytime personal but i would like something as a backup just in case to fet a hold of me in event something happens.

get her some sort of voice activated smart home deal.
stick them everywhere.
that's what we did for my mom.
Her hearing is not great so anything that tried to ask her or talk back like im thinking you are talking about would drive her insane. She refuses to use the phone any more for this reason,it frustrates her as she cant hear the responses well enough

I've got my Mother on one, whenever it goes off they call me first then GF. If we are unreachable they then go for 911. I won't bother mentioning the service since Canuckistan.

Caption phones are normal free and for this exact scenario. Your local senior center will have the details. She will be able to use a phone again if she can read big print.

Might be a idea, though her eyesight isnt great either, but maybe something set up very simple could work
Missed this. Wife’s first response was get a free caption phone.

does she wear hearing aids?

They got bluetooth ones now, so that may help on your phone adoption. mother in law got them. even came with a wireless adapter for the TV.

no suggestions for actual life alert button. My mom has mobility issues but not hearing ones.

That definitely a option, although would like something she can wear so its with her whereeaver in house she goes just in case

If your mom has an Alexa device, you may want to look into Alexa Emergency Assist. They offer a service in which a person in need of assistance, simply calls out a distress message to an Alexa; and a live operator will assist. Calls out EMS, police, fire plus a list of contacts you provide. It's like $6 a month.

Plus you don't need to deal with a lanyard device...

Grandma had the button
it triggers an intercom that can talk to her, if nothing responds then it goes down the list of contacts that you give them

Neighbor had one, he wouldn't wear it, he ended up in a home a whole lot faster than Grandma did

Grandma also had the blue tooth hearing aids, that age group struggles with the technology, and when you have family (like mine) that refuses to learn anything tech, they just throw the item away and buy a new one, so the blue tooth didn't work for us,

I'd have to ask my rn sister...
But the aforementioned type system is what we used.
On the test they rocked.
Thankfully
We never stress tesed it:confused:

Since mom and I were never apart I got her a simple remote she wore around her neck that when she pushed the botton it buzzed in my room. Of course she always insisted yelling across the house.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
I grew up in dat household :flipoff2:

alexa or other voice command deals are definitely not a option as her hearing such devices and trying to communicate with it would drive her insane. She can hear a person and understand fine if close by and she can see you talk,if its just a random voice noise somewhere its not happening.

Something like this is what im looking for but with it somehow notifying my phone, them i can check cameras, get with the aide kinda deal.

Pennsylvania has a good elderly services ( lottery money) my uncle was able to get the life alert free thru the county agency.
see if your state has any programs
You or she may need to be poor not sure if there is an income level.
The pill dispenser was free too, keep from double dosing and missing, same principle call if missed .

Company I used to work for made the life alert or the knock off , cant remember the name was not my product line, but was on the production floor.
