Anyone running the Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS in a 43"? I have 42" PitBull Rockers and they are dead. So, I'm shopping for something to replace them with. South West wheeling, so not much mud, just rocks. I do some limited street driving, 40 to 50 miles at a time.

I am, absolutely love them off-road. Absolutely horrible and loud as hell on road but that’s to be expected I’d say

Good to hear some are using them. My concern as is everyone is the sidewall toughness. I don't mind if it isn't the greatest or need the best tire for the rocks. Just an all around good, reliable tire that I don't really need to carry a spare for on the rig, but will have one available if needed.

I can’t speak to sidewall strength against SX’s other than the bouncers who said they aren’t as strong.

What I can say from personal experience is that I have run Goodyear Duratracs back when I first started and killed 5 of them. They aren’t even a real off-road tire but I wasn’t even doing real offroad stuff back then.

Then I never hurt the Interco trux MT.

I cut the pro comps and I cut the STT pros.

Then I never cut the Mickeys and I’m punishing them way harder than any other tire so hopefully that’s a decent barometer. Are they the toughest ever? No, but I figure they are tougher then 90% of what’s out there

I put them on my pig in the 43" flavor and so far i like them. Theyve only done a half day at fordyce and a overnight at the rubicon, going to the rubicon this weekend again and ill nit pick them a little more on more specific obstacles. It climbed driveline hill and the soup bowl as easy as usual.

Previous tires were 43 tsl sx and those fuckers are tough. I lost the bead more than once and drove out with the tire flopping all around, reseated and kept on trucking

Gonna need video of you trying to climb the wall next to the damn at buck island.

Which wall, the big wall after the dam or the small wall before the dam drop off. I like the baby wall before the dam. I am too much of a bitch for that giant wall.

Headed towards tahoma right after you go over the damn drop-off, 50' ahead on the left.

I don't do it either but am down to egg others on and talk shit.
i had to give it some HAWK TUAH with 37's and a 22re to get up that

If I'm thinking of the right spot? trail splits around some trees, left line has some a small ledge with some rocks before it, right side is a big ledge with 2 or 3 lines up it?

No, he's talking immediately after the dam there is a big slick slab that most go around, but you can opt to climb straight up it.

So why doesn't the MT baja pro X stickies get thrown into the conversations with led labels, treps, and sx's? Junk compound or just too wide for most crawlers?

Any input....

Idk, new to the street? All the others have been around a long time. I’m sure others will have better answers

I've brought them up before, specifically in the durometer thread I think. As stupid as I think they look, they seem to do pretty well in southern NM terrain. I think a big part of the problem is how wide and baloon-like they are compared to other options. I haven't seen enough people really running them on slick rock like Farmington and Sand Hollow, but I don't see them working as well as a red or a broken in Trep.

I hate them just based on looks but I have only ever seen them doing exceptionally well.

I get it can be tough to take my opinion seriously because I haven't run a red or trep or any sticky before and I am far from a buggy but comparing my non sticky Mickey Baja Pro XS to any other non sticky tire I have run they have kicked absolute ass. Any heavy rig I can vouch for how well they work.

I went from a 40x13.5R17 to a 43x15x17 Mickey Baja Pro XS and I first thought it was the width that transformed my rig. I figure I am big and heavy and the wide contact patch helped a ton. Then I thought it was the height, and more recently I feel it is the compound, they just grab for a non sticky.

I want to try the 42x14.5R20 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss that comes out soon and am terrified I will be disappointed. The height of the 42 and 43 are actually damn near the same. I lose width, which gains me turning angle but now components between the tires are further apart which should hurt. I probably lose some compound benefits. I will gain on road benefits for sure lol

I have seen the tire width argument time and time again and struggle what to make of it.

FWIW, 15 wide is advertised but its more like 17-18 wide.

100% accurate, theyre stupid wide. Made my 43x14.5 TSL SX look like pie cutters.

These are my first set of stickies, rest of have been blue label, they are insanely soft. Talked the wife into coming this weekend so i should have some good videos of it working/not working at all this weekend:flipoff2:

I don’t. I honestly don’t do much social media or get on forums since they kinda went downhill. It’s just a typical b2 with a few little extras
Stock V6? Im looking at buying a set of these in the 40 flavor to replace dry rotted Iroks. I need the large gaps to clean off the mud. My weezer assed TBI 454 makes about the same power as the ford 4.0.
