Aside from showing my man boobs for beads (pretty sure I missed that opportunity), are there any must see or do things while in New Orleans? I'll probably only be here for an afternoon and enjoy checking out historical stuff and good food, anyone have recommendations or should I just sirch newb :flipoff2:

TIA

Blow up the dikes so that shit hole turns into a silo bed. :flipoff2:
I'm in Baton Rouge for the night. The gentrified area was pretty nice, the gas station down the road from the no tell motel, not so much. I'll see what I can do on those dikes :lmao:

Good call, I'll put both of those on the short list.

Thanks, sounds like most agree with V30 above, those should work well for an afternoon trip and hopefully let me get out before I become a statistic :grinpimp:
Stay in Slidell as it’s safe there.

I just left Baton Rouge heading east a bit to my hotel. Hooked up with one of my Cajun buddies and his wife for some Mexican dinner - margaritas yaknow :smokin:

Bridge over a river to my hotel and a refinery too.

Small world! Enjoy your "dinner", I'm jealous :grinpimp:. If you or anyone wants to meet up for a cold one at Lafitte's tomorrow afternoon ish let me know

The pharmacy is worth checking out. Lots of cool history

The WWII museum would take three days to see all of it.

Go to the Sazarac House.

I enjoyed the WW2 Museum and enjoyed the food everywhere I went. The city was dirty and gross overall. Honestly one of my least favorite cities I have been to. Lots of druggies and filth.

I can live with gross…. It’s gross, hot, & humid
(& that makes the smells so much better)

I’d wait till November.

Def recommend the WWII museum but you need to plan for 2 days minimum if you are a history buff. We were there 30 min before they opened and were there until they closed and still felt rushed. I believe they have since opened more exhibits too.

I was born in Baton Rouge, my dad taught math at LSU.

WWII museum if you like that stuff, theres several little museums close to it that are worth a look.

Stay off Burbon St, unless thats what you're after. N.O. is a beautiful city if you look around
N.O. Race track if fun to even just go look if they have testing going on
Charlies Steakhouse, if you want some great food.

If you're on Bourbon St. and get more than 50ft off of it in any direction, have your gun drawn and spare mags in easy reach.

Food anywhere is 11 out of 10.

Oysters, the seafood pasta, and a hurricane at Dragos
Redfish for dinner
Norma Jeans for Breakfast
WW2 Museum is worth a stop
Sazerac house
Bourbon / French quarter are exactly what you expect. Druggy homeless and touristy. Keep your head on a swivel.
I found beignets overrated, better food exists.

Reading the OP, I see you'll only be there an afternoon. Then I'd say WW2 museum and Dragos.

Good advice, not a good city to wonder around in. Stay in the tourist areas. Lots of amazing food, tons of food guides out there. Try some turtle soup at a good restaurant.

Bourbon street is the only safe place to be after 10:00.

It's certainly been an interesting area. I got here late in the evening, will actually get to see some of it today as I head in to NO.

Thank you to everyone for the advice, I'll be heading to the WW2 museum first then stop by Lafitte's if I have time. I want to find a good place to stop on the beach somewhere along the gulf too then will probably start heading back west to get home.
