Mine is a 96. Started life with a 460/C6. I swapped in an IDI/ZF5. It's 4.10 on 37's running a home made shackle reversal. I built it to act as my mobile workshop here on the farm. The rack is modular and unbolts in a few minutes to stow away in the bed. It is also free span so I can haul a gooseneck with it bolted on. I have a Miller BlueStar 185, a Hypertherm 45, a Quincy compressor mounted to the truck. In the job box is a full set of tools. Everything from basic hand tools, a full set of cordless tools and basic fab tools like grinders and such. Behind the seat are lay out tools like 500' tape various measurementdevices, marking paint, stakes, levels squares, etc. On the inside of the bed rail lives a weedwhacker, leaf blower, chainsaw, a 110v winch on a sling, shovels, pick, sledge, high lift, fence post driver and a manual grease gun. I mounted a 1200lb a tommy lift off the rear. On the front is an 8274 and an incomplete bumper that I'll eventually finish. I also have a set of sliders that will become 45 gallons worth of air storage so I can ditch the 30 gallon tank I have mounted in the bed.

Miss my '96. 4mpg kinda sucked...but that truck was great. I'd rock another again sometime.

I like that set up.

I'm looking at a similar set up for coast-to-coast travelling.

Last summer I mad the Trek cross country with that setup and the truck and trailer were awesome until I hit Colorado and Nevada .. the hills were a bit much and it felt like the truck was working too hard. I have baby swamps and a kc turbo in it and 50 was Max on some of the hills.

I hear you.

You ever drive I15 through the NV/CA state line?

12+ miles of 6% grade on the CA side of said state line!

Try this again..... This is my 97 F250. 7.3 auto with 125k miles currently. I use it for towing duties and Friday rides to work when its nice out.

I had a few of the OBS trucks over the years and really liked them. I finally had to upgrade for better pulling/hauling capacity. I do miss how easy they were to mess with.

I have a 93 cclb, 351, 5 speed 1 ton 4x4 for a plow truck.

It works great for a plow truck, but it seems like I have to work on it every day I drive it. Normal Ford stuff

Mines a 95 CCLB 7.3 5 speed. Red interior, white exterior with a blue driver door/fender and a blue passenger rear door.
fuckin Murica! :usa::homer:

That thing is sexy! Here's mine. It's a 96 with a twin turbo 12 valve. I rebuilt the engine over the winter with a bunch of go fast goodies. Hoping to make 700+rwhp.

I haven't got to drive it yet, because the engine swap turned into a restoration. If all goes well, it's getting paint tomorrow.

Thanks!

I envy your patience for body work. Post up some after pictures when the paint is done!

700RWHP......... That would be stupid fun.

1994 Factory Turbo, CC, LB, 4X4, BTS E40D, Moose Pump, matched BB's, Hypermax SPL, ATS exhaust housing, 3" DP & straight piped, 4.10's and 285's, 88gal aux tank and a new Promar engine with ARP's.

I've owned it for 10 years and for as much heartache it's given me it is still one of my all time favorite vehicles.

I've got a 94, but it needs some love.

Future  plans include 7.3 swap, 05 axles, and 37" tires. I *think* I'll be happy with 37's and 4:10 gears, but we'll see.

I have a 96 4x2 7.3 with 190k tow rig and DD. Other then getting the trans built its been rock. Tows I80 up donar at 65mph. last trip got 12.5 towing, gets a solid 18 empty. The wifes ride is 2003 last of the 7.3s, Excursion that is here toy. 4x4 on 35s 4.30 gears. has 265K on that one and we use it tow with as well. in a week we are heading to Kyburz in it towing the heep for a month wheeling. gets about same mpg, but has a lot more power, depending on tune selected. But it has a lot in it too. Thats is all we have too as DD. i wont spend a dime on anything new ever again. 7.3 are rather low cost to rebuild if and when that day comes. compared to about any other oil burner you can think of. cost zip to insure, tags are 30 bucks a year, no payments.

What trans will you be using?

37s and 4.10s with a 5 spd would be perfect for light towing and cruising around empty. With an auto you may want lower. The od is much taller on the auto so it's cruise the same rpm with ~4.56s as the manual with 4.10s.

My 94.5 f250 PS 4x4 zf5 turd. Everytime I fix something 2 more things need attention but damn does it pull strong and it's too much fun rowing gears. Plus fuck new truck pricing. Well used all the way.

E4OD, cause that's what I have. If I could find the right manual, I'd run it, but I am getting older. Manual isn't as much fun as it used to be

Well, I guess I'll throw my truck in here. Started as a 96 2 wheel drive dually with ~280k on the clock. Over winter I gave it lots of love- I bought an 05 parts truck and I swapped in the front suspension, axle and steering, including the steering box. I used the NP271 tcase from the 05 (with an input shaft from a 99-03 7.3). Swapped the rear end and 2 inch block from the 05, but kept the 96 leafs. Thinking I'll swap in some 08+ leafs since the truck is due for shackles and hangers anyways.. Added helper air-bags. Had the E4OD built and billet converter. Have a 6.0 intercooler here waiting to be installed.

Trying to decide if I should do turbo/injectors on the 7.3 or throw some real coin at it and do a common rail cummins swap.. I love the 7.3 and have had a few over the years, but on the flipside the reliability of a bone-stock (tuned) cummins that makes the same power has me thinking.. any thoughts/input?
