Anyone had good luck with anything from Amazon that doesn't break the bank too much.
Probably thinking 1" x 30 for the E350 van and a few soft shackles, snatch block, etc.

I have the green one from there that’s good for 30000 pounds that was cheap. The brand escapes me but it’s slightly bigger than 1”. I’ve used it a bunch of times to pull out the single axle freightliners and Mack’s we have. They weren’t stuffed up to the frame but to the hubs. I make sure it stays out of mud/sand. I also go gentle with it and am not yarning on it like a mad man. Would buy again.

Link?

I've used these shackles 8-10 times in the last year, for regular ditch recovery type stuff. $7 each is hard to beat- looks like they're on sale again.

Give me a minute, can’t find the order in my history in the size I bought.

I’ve bought Bubba Rope soft shackles and kinetic ropes from Amazon and have had no issues with them. I’ve bought Yankum stuff directly from their website.

7/16" good for 44k is like $45 at Custom Splice.

Lot of stuff is sold out. Do they sell Gigglepin winches or just mod parts for them?

Am I old school.... I still uses a strap.. Open recovery hooks on my rig; plenty of tree straps and a few shackles rolling around.
A couple of months ago, we had a brand new JKU Rubicon almost slide off a narrow trail. I don't think a kinetic rope would have worked; not enough room to give a yank. :stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot:

I'm right there with you. When I tighten up a strap I can get a feel for the pull. A rope at an idle keeps stretching for a while. Much harder to gauge how stuck some one is. But that's just me...........

After Dirty Jed’s soft shackle post, I got a Bubba Rope and nice soft shackles.

And I’m now changing out my tow hitch.

This is a good comparison video for buying kinetic recovery ropes -

I didn't cheap out on a kinetic rope and bought a Master Pull brand but I did go cheap on a few soft shackles with Ucreative brand off Amazon. Ive used them a few times and so far no complaints with them.

Try Todd at Custom Splice. I'm not sure what all he carries but he's one of us.
Tell him rugger sent you.
Few years ago i ordered 3/8" x100' winch rope from them and they was out of 3/8". He sent 5/16" and he contacted me telling me why. About 2 weeks later my 3/8" showed up in the mail, with a note telling me to keep both lines. I would recommend them to anyone.

I was looking for one of the soft shackle pulley rings for my RZR. Todd (Custom Splice) website showed none in stock. I chatted with him thru his website chat feature and he personally went and located one for me. I added a extra long soft shackle to the order as well. Todd is good people and I have never had a bad buying experience buying there.

This has got me thinking.. (danger, danger, danger).... I might have to go to soft shackels. Not a fan of kinetic rope. Might be ok for bungie jumping. :smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin:

Few years ago I ordered a 100' winch line extension for my RZR. Todd called me before he sent it to make sure that is what I needed. After talking with him a few mins he recommended doing 2-50' extensions instead. I believe it was the same price as the 100' eve though it had two more loops to splice and 2 more metal thimbles.

I have only use those extensions a couple of times in the years since I bought them but when you need them you need them!

Alright fuckers!!

I went with Todd at Custom Spline. Spent more than Amazon for sure but the product will be much better as well. At the end of the day, when you are stuck (and I am almost always traveling alone), I want to be able to depend on the recovery shit that I have and not "hope" it will hold up.

Bought new winch line, an extension, soft shackles, a kinetic rope and some other shit.

Great guy. Called me on the phone on the 4th of July while on a family trip. I am impressed.

Anyways, just a shout out for others out there looking to give Todd some money!
