The radiator comment reminded me that I did replace the radiator on one of our siennas years ago. The van was well north of 200k miles at that point. It had sprung an external leak, fortunately. It was not too bad to replace.

Toyota. We had a Honda as a beater that was great, got beat hard and put away wet everyday as a loaner and parts runner. You can fit a 4x8 sheet and 12 foot stick inside them if the seats are out. It ended up eating the trans at 300k and I gave it away.

As long as you aren’t trying to rock crawl it and you don’t have any masculinity issues old minis are great beater vehicles.

4x8 sheet in the Honda or Toyota
Mainly trips to the big city, maybe going to go see family, and someplace to sleep on fishing trips
If someone thinks to judge me by what I drive

We bought a ‘99 Sienna when they were hard to find (first year of dual sliding doors). We sold it in 2019 after we became empty nesters. I don’t remember what it had on the odometer, but it was around 200k. We did all of the regular maintenance, kept all of the paperwork and receipts. It sold for $2000 before the For sale sign was in the window.

Mrs kind of wishes we had kept it.

Ours was a Honda odyssey, I think i think it was a 2000, was given to us by a family friend for helping him out with some stuff. This was 2010ish.

I’m not sure if you can fit a sheet in the Toyota like you could the Honda but I see a few Toyota minis at the big box stores, you don’t see any older domestic vans around here, they all rusted out years ago.

It should be perfect for your use though, ours would get mid 20s loaded with tools and shit being driven by 18-25 year olds.

I’ll bet the Toyota has a better service history.

If you gave me a Dodge I would sell it. Pure piles of garbage.

My dad bought my mom a Sienna many years ago for hauling around the grandkids. He liked it so much that he bought one for himself.

My brother bought a Caravan to haul the kids because it was cheaper. And then spent more in repairs than my folks did purchasing theirs.

On no planet does Dodge quality compare to Toyota.

Moving towards either the above meantioned 07 Toyota or an 07 CRV, both are at dealerships although the Toyota looks tobe more of a flipper, CRV comes with a full carfax the Toyota doesnt

Research that model year Honda. Some model years seem to run for eternity and others are plagued with problems.

Crv isn’t a bad choice, trans issues aren’t uncommon if the fluid isn’t changed at a decent interval. Valve adjustment is easy but often ignored leading to problems, conversely some go 300k with no adjustment. If awd the diff uses some special Honda fluid that needs changed pretty often. That vintage Honda had issues with a/c comp taking a shit and contaminating the whole system, seems hit or miss. Otherwise a good vehicle, all issues and fixes are well documented online like most Honda stuff. May as well look at rav4 too, ask arse his opinion first of course.

LOL Toyota has been sold!

According to carfax trans was recently serviced in the Honda.

Oddly enough last time we went over Engineers pass in 2008, we were following a Rav 4. But then again it wasn't the Engineer's pass it was in 1974, there were no big rocks you had to crawl over, I think my 67 Mustang could have driven over it only draging in a couple of places, 37s seemed to be over kill on my FSJ>

I know the new crv is too tight for a normal adult male. 5 11 200lbs workman's build. Don't know how the older ones fit a bigger guy.

Hmmmm. Yeah i'm around 6'1" well past 200
Just like guns, get your ass in the seats and try to change driving positions. The crv is a decent rig but you have 40 minutes to go anywhere.

The 2nd gen was actually pretty spacious. They fucked it up trying to make it into a car.

Forget about the CRV, we had an '07 for a couple of years and couldn't get rid of it quick enough. The worst part of it was just how uncomfortable it was. We had the infinite adjustable seat and never found a position that was good for more than ten min. We actually traded it off after a 500 mile trip, there was no way either of us was gonna ride in that thing all the way back home.
