Please remember I'm an old guy who remembers laughing at old people driving little Japanese cars that could barely make 55 MPH. To me cars should have pushrods and carbs and not be controlled by computers except for the one between my ears. (Cue the jokes) Also I live in NM not some coastal big city with lots to choose from. I am trying to keep from [putting more miles on my 99 Dodge 2500 since it is setup for towing, plus get better fuel milage, the max I would like to spend is $4k mini vans are easier than cars because of my bad knees!
Anyway I am looking at a minivan I have two candidates

My buddy has a 03 Sienna similar mileage. He paid $1600 5ish years ago and has had basically no issues with it. It had a slight steering rack leak recently that has been slowed or stopped with blue devil. The 3.3 has plenty of power for what it is, he tows light loads ~1500# and it handles it well.

I hate minivans, and would avoid any dodge that didn't have a cummins

Are you comfortable in a highlander?

Do you have any interest in female companionship?
Rented a 2018 Dodge to take my mom and three aunts to another aunt's funeral in Mis. once I got the seat adjusted it was one of the most comfortable trips I have ever had.
The only Toyota I have ever driven was a 72 FJ 40, basically a tractor, that had a drop down sign any time you got past 55 MPH that said (TO FAST SLOW DOWN).

I have some 2013ish caravans in my work fleet and I’ve had early 2000s siennas in my family’s fleet. The caravans have typical dodge quality (poor), but the engines and transmissions have not been an issue. The siennas have not had issues. Even though the inside isn’t as nice, I would still go with the sienna for overall quality.

20yr and 200k miles vs 12yo and not 200k? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to make that choice even if the younger vehicle is supposedly worse. But maybe OP lives in the desert. That seems to affect people's judgement when brand of vehicle is involved.
Well yes I do live in a desert, have electricity and A/C running water sewage system...
Problem is I quit paying attention to vehicles in the 80s when they started computerizing them.. I don't know what to look for these days Toyota seller gave more info and miliage works out to 11k a year.
Dodge almost no info other than what I posted only picture of outside, and 15K a year

My current commuter is a 2019 Dodge Caravan. It's actually pretty decent with the V-6. No complaints. I was originally looking at a Sienna but the Dodge was a better price. Both would be good.

Work van is a 14 caravan with 200k miles, have not had any major issues with it other the
Trans park shifter was leaking and that was $500 to replace it and the oil cooler leaked

Does yours still have exterior trim? Almost all of ours on our work vans has fallen off at this point.

The Chrysler will be more comfortable.

The Toyota will be more reliable.

Watch the radiator on the Toyota. They tend to corrode at the transmission cooler and pop internally, filling your transmission with coolant, and coolant passages with transmission oil.

Pain in the ass to clean out.i got one in the yard that happened to. 2 boxes of dishwasher detergent ran through the cooling system and its clean. Have flushed the trans with 6 gallons of transmission oil and its still got pink gunk in it.

Toyota vs Dodge is not even a thought. If you loved the Dodge seat so much, but the Toyota and put a Dodge seat in the thing. Never been in Sienna seats with my own butt but I know in the vanlife world they are highly sought after not only because of the reclining rears but they are supposed to be very comfortable. No first hand knowledge though.

Dodge needs to have comfy seats while you wait for the tow truck! Probably come with an XBOX too so you can be entertained :flipoff2:
